VF-1 Valkyrie: son, we need to talk.
VF/A-6 Alpha: ok, mom. What's up?
VF-1: I've heard talk about you, people say you're slow, and your payload, while plentiful, is unimpressive. It's just those jealous ASC kids. Don't listen to them. You're a real veritech with 3 different modes, just like your mother.
Alpha: Uh...yeah, ok.
VF-1: but I want to warn you about that fat kid you've been hanging out with lately.
Alpha: fat kid? You mean Beta? He's not fat, he's just...big bomb bayed...
VF-1: well, I think he's a bad influence. You don't need him, one day you'll get your own FAST packs and Beta can't be a part of that.
Alpha: but moooommmm, Beta and I are in a band! Its called Legios, we're totally opening for Yellow Dancer next week!
VF-1: No son of mine is going to open for that rubbish! This Beta's idea, I knew he would lead you astray! The next thing I know you'll be sniffing protoculture and cavorting with Logans!
Alpha: you just don't understand me! Dad! Make her say it's okay!
Dr. Emil Lang: *rustles newspaper* listen to your mother.
Alpha: ugh! I'm outta here! *putts off straining to break the sound barrier*
VF-1: *sobs quietly* sniffing the PC...he gets out from you, Emil!
Lang: *long, tired sigh*

Otherwise known as the Pygmy and the Beanpole.
"So...just how much ordnance can you hang under those shoulders?"
"Shut up."
"I mean, you're technically a helicopter....and the Commanchero sure could tote a lot of hurt on its hardpoints. Surely progress has gifted you with greater capability?"
"SHUT UP!"
"And the itty-bitty lasers..."
"SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UP!"

Not really...The AJACS is completely unrelated mechanics-wise to any other in-service mecha, and has an even smaller 'family tree' than the Logan. The Logan at least spawned the (non-canon) SuperLogan(and, if you count the fan creations of Stan Bundy, an amphibious model as well), whereas the AJACS was perfected too late and deployed too late to have any derivatives aside from mutant-spawn frankenmecha assembled from spare airframes during the Invid Occupation. The AJACS just doesn't have the same charisma and apparent modularity for fans to go to town like they have with the VFs.

Don't remember there being an amphibious model by Stan. And I believe I've read all his stuff.

taalismn wrote:The Beta, on the other hand, probably has some bloodline of Phalanx destroid in it; the configuration is fairly simple; legs fold back, wings/arms are outboard of the main missile pods...It charitably looks like somebody tried to streamline a Phalanx with a big honking jetpack on its back, and made it fully flight worthy.

Interesting.

Frankly Dolza admired Edwards for that one. Dolza's job as a male stripper gave him plenty of opportunity to wish he could die with such sudden violence, and not leave enough remains to be further humiliated with a positive ID.
