Scythe Weapon proficiency?
I was just wondering if I wanted to have a character walking around with a large scythe as a weapon what kind of ancient weapon proficiency should I take?
Re: Scythe Weapon proficiency?
Pole arms?
I don't care about canon answers. I'm interested in good, well-reasoned answers and, perhaps, a short discussion of how that answer is supported or contradicted by canon.
If I don't provide a book and page number, then don't assume that I'm describing canon. I'll tell you if I'm describing canon.

May you be blessed with the ability to change course when you are off the mark.

W.P. Polearms specifically says it covers Scythes.

Sickles I'd assume would come under Knives, along with kriss-blades, cleavers, and bayonets.

WP knife for un-mounted bayonets. Mounted takes the the spear WP.

Thanks. Sickle might also possibly use an Ax WP if it's big enough. The broad sweeping strikes with the curved side are similar.

I want a skill for harvesting wheat which gives some measure of this.

Great. Farming skill. There you go.
Since anyone can use an ancient weapon at default levels you also have some measure of this skill.
If you want to actually know how to use it as an actual weapon, especially with any level of skill you will need to study the weapon proficiency itself.
The rules are not a bludgeon with which to hammer a character into a game. They are a guide to how a group of friends can get together to weave a collective story that entertains everyone involved. We forget that at our peril.
