Dimension Book X Sourcebook - Which Worlds?

Unread post by Bill »

Throughout the dimension books, many worlds have been named but not fully developed. Which world (choose only one) would you like to see fully developed as a playable setting unto itself? How would you expect it to be distinct from other settings in Palladium Books' catalog?

Unless I've missed a book, Phase World never had enough detail for me. Its supposed to be as big and complex as Coruscant but I dont think we had all the information given to us.

You don't have Dimensional Outbreak? That's pretty much 50% about Center.

While Center is certainly worthy of its own book, or even several, the rest of Phase World could benefit from some detail. In the right hands, I think it could be a fantastic setting for paranoid conspiracy gaming, building on the hinted agendas of the 2nd stage Prometheans and the First Race cults mentioned in DB2. I'd love to see detailed descriptions of strange geological formations and naturally occurring phase phenomenon. It would be a good opportunity to expand on the phase abilities used by Phase Adepts and introduce a couple more phase themed power sets/classes too.

The capital planet of the UWW would be an interesting place.

The UWW has fantasy elves, Dwarves,... but I've always wanted them to have an undead science fiction race in good standing...

I kind of want a book dedicated to the Galactic Empire's throne world, with more information about the Royal Family, the Emperor and their Alien Intelligence patron.

Oh right there's a bunch of them... I'd settle for 1 book for all of them and a chapter dedicated to each.

I did create a pleasure colony planet for my 3G/Thundercloud campaign. :D Was honestly quite fun as a GM. I've ran a few adventures through there. Since it was a colony in the TC Galaxy it only has one large city, so it wasn't that hard to create and figure out.

Yes! Alfheim I believe (Or was it Elfheim?). That would be a great book and my first pick.

Alexandria would be number 2 for me.

On consideration I decided to go with Phase World. The Not-Center parts of it especially. The reasoning is that this is one of the most heavily visited places in gaming... EVERYONE seems to go to Phase World. I would love to get more information on the Second Stagers, I would like some hints about the other Phased race (an Elder Race obviously) that built it (my personal theory ties them to the Golden Ones from Mechanoids but that's just me). And as a bonus we could get a more detailed treatment of the Phase classes, possibly some more phase tech (there has to be some other uses for it... some of which are probably just exotic ways to spend money, not everything has to have combat utility after all). Have the Promethians developed Phased Temporal spells? Can they teach non-phase adepts limited access (i.e. can you pick up one or two phase powers... especially interesting if there are weaker 'lesser' phase powers that can be taught to 'normals')
What are the rules and restrictions for getting down and around the planet? What is the geography? Do they have embassies/enclaves for the various elder races And while you might want to visit the Xodian Embassy do you really want to visit the Gene Splicer Enclave. (or ponder why they still maintain an Embassy for the Dominators.).
The rules are not a bludgeon with which to hammer a character into a game. They are a guide to how a group of friends can get together to weave a collective story that entertains everyone involved. We forget that at our peril.
