(Inspired by two illustrations by Dagova on Deviantart)
(Lisa Hayes appears, clad in a traditional Japanese obi, with arm guard on one hand, and a sheathed katana held in the other)
Lisa: “I am Misa, of the House Hayaze, daughter of samurai, mistress of teh Spacy School of Zanji Shinjinken-Ryu!”(flash of lightning)
(Lynn Minmei appears in a kimino, with the protective arm gear of an archer, and a bow in hand)
Minmei: “I am Minmay, heir to the House of Lynn School of Lightning Delivery Ramen Archery!”
(indeed, her bow seems strung with braided ramen noodles)
Lisa/Misa: “You are no match for a true wielder of steel, peasant-girl!”
Minmei: “You depend too much on a short range weapon, braggart of suspect blood!”
Lisa: “I will have you know nothing stands up to the Eastern Sword Wind that is my school’s signature move!”
Minmei: “Shouldn’t it be WESTERN, given your hair color?”
Lisa: “You attempt to mock me is cumbersome and awkward. Just what are you trying to imply?”
Minmei: “That your blood is impure, that your ancestors slept with outsiders!”
Lisa:”...you’re Chinese.”
Minmei: “Low blow and playing on stereotypes!”
Lisa: “No...just saying. But enough! You have insulted me! We FIGHT!” ///SHING///
Minmei: “Thought you’d never ask! “(nocks an arrow and lets fly)
Lisa: “YAHHH!” (she bats the arrow out of the air with her sword)
Minmei: “A lucky parry! I toy with you!”(fires another arrow)
Lisa: “All you can do is play games!”(bats this one aside as well)
(this continues on for a while, neither side gaining any ground)
Minmei: “Lunch-Time Quick Order Flurry!”
Lisa: “Desk Warrior Paper Parry!”
Minmei: “Dragonfly Noodles Spear!”
Lisa:”Gold Braid Red Tape Tangle Weave!”
Minmei: “ White Dragon Winter Hail Storm!!!”(suddenly fires off a whole SWARM of arrows)
Lisa: “East Sky Typhoon Strike!”(her blade becomes a flashing blur, kicking up a cloud of dust and splinters)
(when the smoke and dust clear, both women are still standing, but their clothes are ripped they’re sporting bruises and cuts, and both seem rather put out)
Lisa: “You are...more resilient than expected.”
Minmei: “You are not as..soft as you look...”
(Minmei notices something...all around them are bodies, many of them suck full of Minmei’s arrows, others bearing the marks of sword slashes)
Minmei: “...who are these men?”
Lisa: “Mostly robofreaks and otakujerks...so intent on their argument with each other they take no heed of commonsense! They WALK into meatgrinder attacks!”
Nearby Body:”....Harmony Gold destroyed my childhood by depriving me of access to the GOOD stuff...”
Nearby Body 2:”...like what? Macross Delta?!
Nearby Body:”...bite me, @$$hoyt! At least we don’t need a stupid maguffin like PROTOCULTURE!!!
Nearby Body 2:”....up yours, basra nikky fanboy!
“ARRRGGHHHHH!!!”
Minmei: “..I see what you mean....But no matter, our fight goes on!”(nocks another arrow)
Lisa: “Only one of us can walk away the victor this day!”(raises her sword to guard position)
“NOT IF I HAVE ANY SAY IN IT!!!!”
(Khyron appears, clad in what looks like a late 1800’s United States Navy Admiral’s uniform. Behind him, a black Zentraedi ship is hovering, sails out and cannon ports open)
Khyron: “I COME TO FORCE YOUR INSULAR CULTURE TO ITS KNEES WITH MY GREATER POWER AND MAKE YOU BOW TO OUR SUPERIORITY!!!”
Minmei: “ The gaijin is right, he is indeed fearsome and powerful! He may make good on his threat!”
Lisa: “”Worse, he may force us to work ...together...to counter him!”
Minmei: “What a horrible fate we face!”
Lisa: “”Worse yet, although I am a stoic warrior maiden and you a spunky peasant girl, the gaijin’s blond bishonen good looks and fearsome manner make both of us weak in the knees and heart! We are wilting flowers on the battlefield, ready to be plunked by the monster, unless...unless..unless....that’s a cue, people, get with it...unless...”
(three figures lurch out of the sunlight...we see they are three young men, all in traditional Japanese Wandering Hero garb)
Rick Hunter: “Greetings, I am Hikaru Ichijyo, Reluctant Warrior. We seek respite from fighting, although we all know it’s not to be in these troubled times.”
Maximilian Sterling: “And I am Maximillian Jenius...which doesn’t sound Japanese at all, but then again, I am a Ninja In Plain Sight.”
Ben Dixon: “ I am Hayao Kakizaki, Bumbling Oaf Comic Sidekick!...wait, that doesn’t sound right.”
Minmei: “...dibs on the short one.”
Lisa: “I saw him first!”
Minmei: “Did not!”
Lisa: “Did too!”
Minmei: “Did not!”
Lisa: “Did too!”
Rick: “What are those two arguing about?”
Max: “I have no idea! I am prophecized not to understand women until I meet ‘The One’ who will be my exotic love interest. Then I will be complete as a man!”
Ben: “I wish I had a prophecy like that. The one I got was ‘avoid city fires’.”
Minmei: “Did not!”
Lisa: “Did too!”
Ben: “No, actually I did. I’ve been avoiding big cities ever since.”
Rick: “Probably doesn’t work that way.”
Max: “Pity..all the good places to meet girls are in the cities.”
(in a little secluded village in China, a green-haired woman sneezes)
Khyron: “WAIT, WE’RE SUPPOSED TO BE WESTERNERS HERE AND THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE AN AKIRA KURASOWA PARODY. WHY IS THE AUTHOR MAKING TAKAHASHI RUMIKO REFERENCES?!”
Grel: (dressed as a US Navy midshipman) “...because the original idea is running dry, and he’s grasping at straws to find a way to close this out?”
(just then, the CSS Hunley, captained by a certain Russian captain, rams a spar torpedo into the side of Khyron’s ship)
Gloval: “My last breath I spit at thee!”
(both boats explode)

Turkeys.

Ironically, Scott's probably more used to crowds and close quarters on Mars and Tirol, but not the goods selection(on the other hand, he does know about French store attendants...though whether that's because the UEEF has a good cross-section of Earth culture along for the ride in the colonies, or because he's watched movies).
Rand's more of a holiday traditionalist himself, when he's not a) ignoring the holidays because they take away from survival time, or b) exploiting them for free stuff(Free lunch? Sure! Eggnog? Dish me up a cup!). He's also more likely to be into handmade and significant gifts....a new(and blank) notebook, warm socks, first aid kit, etc.
Rook's a city girl, but even her upbringing's going to show through; less frilly useless stuff, and maybe a combination of feminine useful(portable toiletries kit, durable dress, etc.), and tomboyish(motorcycle parts), with the occasional splurge item.
