Sharpshooting
So looking at RUE (1st printing), the Sharpshooting skill never made it into the book. It's mentioned in a few world books like Canada and the Chaos Earth main book even lists it in the skill section. The interesting thing is the NEMA Soldier/Peacekeeper OCC in the main Chaos Earth book looks similar to the Merc OCC in RUE. This version however, has Sharpshoting listed under the Pigman/Heavy Weapons MOS while RUE's version does not. Warlords of Russia cuts up Sharpshooting and only lists Trick Shooting as a skill. The skill isn't even in the revised Conversion Book.
So...Is PB moving away from Sharpshooting?
I like the idea of Trick Shooting being its own skill...thoughts?

Re: Sharpshooting
It being listed with a the heavy weapons specialist in Chaos Earth is probably a mistake. From what I recall, you can't take Sharpshooting for heavy weapons anyway.

Re: Sharpshooting
Less moving away from and more reserving it for specific OCCs as was originally intended. If everyone can take Sharpshooting, why play a Gunslinger O.C.C.?
It's a good decision, if you ask me. If every Man-At-Arms class can take it, it rather cheapens its value.

Yes and no, actually. The do get the same skill, but if you read the classes, the gunslinger OCC's have bonuses above and beyond the normal WP. Plus they get all the trick shots.

Ya, I have to agree. And since the New West OCCs (and a few others) get it as part of the OCC and do not have to spend the coveted "2 Other OCC skills" selection it still makes it unique. It just seems odd that PB hasn't really added a 'Paired Fire Arms', 'Sharpshooting' and/or 'Trick Shooting' skill in the main RUE book.

They are making their way in.
Slowly but surely the various sub skills are slowly making their way in.
the Trick Shooting and paired pistol skills are already in some books.
Eventually they will migrate to the master list(s).

The rules are not a bludgeon with which to hammer a character into a game. They are a guide to how a group of friends can get together to weave a collective story that entertains everyone involved. We forget that at our peril.

Is Paired Pistol actually a detailed skill somewhere other than kinda in New West?

Re: Sharpshooting
not that i know of. RUE has some details on non-skilled use of two pistols at a time, but the only dual pistols 'skill' i know of is the one from new West.. which is technically more of a class feature, as presented.
i could see how it could be made a standard skill, though i'd say if it was selectable by other classes, it should be a toned down version. leave the WB14 version as a superior version used by those OCC's.

Half way
Rifts Canada has some classes that list among their options taking "Paired Firearms or Sharpshooting from New West."
and then explicitly says that these are two different skills.
But of course, the actual Paired Firearms skill got cut from New West so...

There's a martial art form in Mystic China that specializes in pistols instead of melee weapons.

The rules fluff from the New West book has always boggled my mind. It does treat them like two different skills, since it does list them as such in both OCC and skill list. We always tabled Paired Pistols as being able to fire both hands with no penalties, but not everyone could take the skill.
