Robotech Liquidation?

Unread post by DocTom »

I heard that all the Robotech stock will have to be liquidated.
I expect there will be a sale soon on the web site, but after that is done do you think the remaining unsold stock will be auctioned off or just sent to a landfill?

I would guess it comes down to whether there's a sufficient tax break to be had by destroying that inventory. If not, I suspect Kevin would likely purchase the remaining stock for something like $1 to add to his personal collection, then sell it over time on ebay.

If there was an auction I would bid on the remaining stock and show up with truck and haul it away.

In high school, I moved mid-way through my sophomore year. New city, new school, no friends... The group of guys I ended up hanging with played Robotech. I had played Heroes Unlimited before and was a big Robotech fan, so naturally, I meshed well with these guys. I have very fond memories of goofing around at lunch time at school, Robotech books in hand, scouring every page for info on the ships and mecha. We had a really fun time. I am profoundly sad that the license has been lost.

I have never tried Robotech or watched it. If the product was dirt cheap I would certainly buy some though.

I watched two episodes with my kids this morning. It is on Netflix.
The music is great, well maybe not the singing.

Which episodes.

There are a few singers in the show. Minmei isn't really the best singer as her VA wasn't a singer IINM, but Yellow Dancer in the Invid arc they got someone else to do the singing instead of the VA. Though it might depend on your taste in signing to. The only other singers are George Sullivan and the Muses in the Masters arc, unless you want to count Exedore (which we shouldn't).

Lancer is great!
The back ground music is great!
We wanted the first two episodes of the new generation.
