Cyber Knight Zen Combat WP Shield

I noticed that the Cyber Knight gets WP Shield at 2nd level with Zen Combat. Does this WP start at second level or first? Do they get the +1 to parry at level one too? Thanks!

They get the skill at level two but the skill is first level so they would get any bonuses with the WP just in this case 1 level late.

Upon making Level 2, the character learns a new skill (WP Shield) which is at the starting proficiency (skill level 1).

WP Shield starts at Level 1 just like any other Skill you acquire at Level Ups (be it secondary or Related starting at Level 2). In point of fact it is described as a Skill "...Gets the W.P. Sheild skill which provides a ..." (pg65 RUE Zen Combat Level 2), so this is considered a skill. They get the +1 Parry from the Skill at Level 1 in that skill, with the next bonus occurring when the skill reaches Level 3 (character Level 4).

What is interesting is that the Zen Combat WP Shield (pg65 RUE) progression is actually different than the skill progression for the skill found in the skill description section (pg327 RUE). While the bonus to strike with the shield remains unchanged (4/8/12), the levels for parry are different Zen it is (1/3/6/9/12/15) to Skill Section (1/3/7/10/13). So, the Zen Combat acquires not only more bonuses but also at earlier levels making it a superior form of the skill. Though other books might have different progressions for any given WP.
