Obviously not anything mechanical looking or vastly deforming. But something like razor fingernails or a palm needle/drug injector (main book, 1E; I'm AFB right now, so the term may not be correct.)

I don't see why not. They're partially biological, partially mechanical, so I think it would be withing reason to have some tweaks in there. Razor fingernails, maybe a computer in the forearm (between the radius and the ulna, with the screen being on top of the skin, so you don't inhibit muscle use).
The Megaverse runs on vibes.

i would assume that if it can be installed onto a normal human limb, it can go into a biosystem.

I agree with the above posters, there really isn't any reason they couldn't be installed since AFAIK nothing indicates you need a Bionic/Cybernetic limb in the first place (Bio-Systems, IMHO, straddle the line between outright cybernetic/bionics and cloning a replacement limb).

They're a mix of artificial and cloned replacement. I can see subtle or non-gross (in the large sense) modifications. but I figured I'd poll the hivemind.

Would the penalties for magic and psionics still apply?

As bio-systems, and as additional modifications to them would be implants IN an existing implant, *I* would not count those specific implants against the magical/psionic limit. I mean, forex you've got a bionic arm. If you add a palm blaster, and E-clip port, and holo-projector of your favorite booty-call *to that bionic arm,* are you really further altering the rest of the existing body?
I would argue not. It's all part of the arm.
Of course, how much you can pack into a given limb or internal implant is going to be a negotiation with your DM. Caveat emptor.
I also note that the rules appear silent on this kind of combination, barring text I'm not aware of or not recalling.

by the rules, the bio-system limb does not, but any other implant does.

I'm unaware of a statement either way.

RUE pg 188, under "technological effects ion magic" where it gets a full paragraph calling biosystems out as an exception to the usual effects cybernetic/bionic implants have on magic. all of the magic OCC's also note that they avoid cybernetics, and will only accept bio-systems if needed.
book of magic pg18, under "technology is good"
bionic sourcebook pg 49, which is a repeat of a section from SoT1 pg 16
in all of the exception is cited as being because the biosystem limb is mostly organic tissues, just like a natural limb.

Ah, I see. You're working with the assumption that anything implanted in a bio-system replacement, forex a bio-system arm, would be treated exactly the same as anything implanted in a regular arm?glitterboy2098 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 09, 2023 8:28 pmRUE pg 188, under "technological effects ion magic" where it gets a full paragraph calling biosystems out as an exception to the usual effects cybernetic/bionic implants have on magic. all of the magic OCC's also note that they avoid cybernetics, and will only accept bio-systems if needed.thorr-kan wrote:Cite?glitterboy2098 wrote:by the rules, the bio-system limb does not, but any other implant does.
