I'd judge it by the situation. If the weight is being applied across the "wide" facing of the object, then yeah, it would have an effect. If it is against the "non-edge" (in other words, the dimension that has been removed) then I'd rule the weight wouldn't have an impact. For example, if you turn a person into a 2-d object so that they seem to disappear from the side, they wouldn't really have a dimension to apply weight from if they step on a mine because their body's thickness doesn't exist. If they were to run headlong into a tripwire, however, the weight would apply because the person's front facing has a visible dimension.
