Re: THE HANDY DANDY RANDOM ADVENTURE GENERATOR
Mr Gallahan, you are my hero! I will get back to you later with a longer more lengthy reply which quotes various aspects of your post immediately previous to mine. But right now I'm busy petting dogs.
Look upon me and tremble ye masses. For I am The Necroposter!

Nate, you sir win the internet for today! You've definitely earned the "oh so amazing" part of your name today.
Re: THE HANDY DANDY RANDOM ADVENTURE GENERATOR
Busy petting the dogs?
...BUSY PETTING THE DOGS!!!??
Okay. You're busy petting the dogs. Here is a HANDY DANDY RANDOM DOG GENERATOR!
Oh, and (heh-heh-heh-heh)... There might be a "BEYOND THE SUPERNATURAL" dogie treat tossed into each category, especially that last one. Hey, humans aren't the only psychics, right? And, should you happen to generate a psychic dog, randomly generate the kind of psychic, and you can really have a great 'dog day afternoon!' Imagine the possibilities here, especially if your pooch is a PYROKINETIC! This opens up a whole new world of fun because your BTS group might have a talented dog in it, and a player might even want to play such a dog. Now, you'll have to research each dog breed that you happen to roll-up and use, of course, to learn the particulars of said breed, its appearances, temperments, etc., and if you encounter a breed that seems not to exist in the "real" world (e.g. Demon Hunter Hound), well, the name will give you a clue about such a hound, and you can take it from there because it might just be fictional, but isn't that part of the fun?
I'm picturing a brave, courageous Dachshund (wiener dog, or hotdog dog) that is a nega-psychic, and whenever he's in the team van, psychic stuff tends not to happen, or a sensitive psychic German Shepperd K-9 police dog. This can add a new depth of fun to any new or existing story or BTS investigative party.

Re: THE HANDY DANDY RANDOM ADVENTURE GENERATOR
An announcement for those who may be inclined to ROLL SOME DICE!!
The Handy Dandy Random Adventure Generator for PALLADIUM FANTASY has been posted.
--At least in part. The first two tables are ready to help you roll-up locations and protagonists. Now, why would people who play BTS care about this? Well, you obviously like PALLADIUM products. AND, you can use the "cross-over" technique to spice your BTS game up. What's "cross-over!?" you might ask?
CROSS-OVER is when you take BTS characters and teleport --or somehow transport-- them to the world of Palladium Fantasy. This can be a lot of fun, and still pretty scary considering some of the locations like the Land of the Damned! How scary would even a simple kobold be if seen in "real life!?" Also, you can have generate Palladium Fantasy character(s) to bring into BTS story ideas. Use both tables together, and double the fun. Also, there are elements in these tables that bridge to RIFTS, BTS, Dead Reign, etc., no matter what table you might be rolling on. This is why I happen to like the Palladium Multiverse idea.
Well, if you get some interesting results, please post them somewhere.
Have fun!

Re: THE HANDY DANDY RANDOM ADVENTURE GENERATOR
(no love. no love)
I'll go check it out, and even throw some feedback your way (maybe). I'm still waiting for my Nonsupernatural threat table though. The BTS tables are great 1 off adventure generators, but what do you do when you use them for a different game (without chars who are designed at the core to be ghostbusters)????

The best tasting fruit is the hardest to get. Imagine how fun and rewarding an undertaking you are describing, and the better because of some extra imagination and creativity-linked mind exercises. That's the beauty of RPGs in general, and why just about every set of rule books out there states in some fashion that the rules serve mainly as a guide. The beauty is to try and experiment to see what works. If something is off, mechanics-wise, maybe tweak it, change it, experiment and see what works. It's all a big learning process, anyway, as to what makes a fun game session, a juicy adventure and an epic campaign.
In the end, the key word here is improvisation, --at least one of the key words. And, honestly, I'd LOVE to see how Dead Reign characters and "ordinary people" would do in Rifts or Palladium Fantasy. The hinge upon which success in these matters rests is that of the person crafting the story, the GM, to make sure that the party isn't overwhelmed. Sure, you could kill the party seconds after they emerge into RIFTS or Palladium Fantasy, but then you chose the location, the circumstances, the threats. Ease them into it, challenge them without setting up for a TPK (total party kill). See what works as you intensify the scenarios, but then they'll have more hit points, too. Be careful with MDC threats to SDC characters. Give them a fighting chance.
With all that in mind, I can see it working, AND being extremely refreshing and fun.

Re: THE HANDY DANDY RANDOM ADVENTURE GENERATOR
Can somebody list out all of Gallahan's random tables? With links? I saw the Palladium Fantasy one.
Also did any of these make it to the Rifter?

Hi Tearstone. So far, these are the only two tables (BTS and Palladium Fantasy versions).
Yes, the BTS tables (a shortened version of them) made it into Rifter #63 (great issue, BTW). Great issue because it has one of the BEST Rifter covers --ever--. The artwork is beautiful; also, great issue because it has a little bit of something for everyone, and a good official Palladium Fantasy section, too. The BTS tables here are more extensive than the ones in the Rifter because of space issues. However, I do plan to submit the Palladium Fantasy tables to the Rifter, too, in the near future, and I'll send them an extensive set of tables that should tons more of random fun. --Thanks for your interest!

Tearstone, my apologies. I've been away from these forums for a while.
My interest in BTS and Palladium faded because they didn't support BTS (and still haven't) since they released BTS 2nd Ed. But, I still love and appreciate Palladium and understand the business decisions they've had to make in order to survive. That being said, I want to add what little creative support to one of my favorite RPG multiverses ever.
I don't know if they want unsolicited support for BTS, but I still have some adventure/sourcebook ideas that might be popular and reinvigorate one of their most beloved games/genres... Beyond the Supernatual.

Callahan, I know I'm late to the party, but I could have hours of fun rolling and rolling and rolling for the endless possibilities here. Like you, I wish BtS2 would get fully developed. I hope PB picks up on these ideas (or perhaps they have BtS2 plans we are unaware of):

Anyhow, I appreciate all the work you put into this.

Has anyone put these into a downloadable document yet? I'd love to be able to download these in a doc to use in my games.

If you highlight everything (all 6 tables), "copy" the text, open a blank Word document, then "paste" everything you copy onto the blank document, you'll be good to go. It takes less than one minute and works like a charm.
Re: THE HANDY DANDY RANDOM ADVENTURE GENERATOR
Wow... It’s been YEARS since I’ve visited Palladium’s community. And, it’s great to see that you’re using the tables. I think they’re a LOT of fun. These tables were printed in an issue of the RIFTER, too. Maybe one day if/when Palladium develops BEYOND THE SUPERNATURAL, I’ll re-do these tables. They’re SO FUN. But, after submitting them to the Rifter, they never really got back to me, ignored my calls, never sent me any copies, etc. But, I do love Palladium, their games, and will always love them. However, they did take the wind out of my sails when after I submitted the tables for publication, they never returned my calls, etc. That being said, this company and its products were and are the elements of fond memories for me personally.

Still using the tables?! Are you kidding me?!! Of course they're still in use. They are ESSENTIAL, on the fly adventure generators for ANY game line. It doesn't have to be BTS. If you don't want horror, leave that table out. Anyone who wants to bang out a one shot for a can use this as a quick and dirty framework to get the dice rolling. I love it and won't stop singing it's praises.

Re: THE HANDY DANDY RANDOM ADVENTURE GENERATOR
Hey, it’s Jan 2022. I just came back to visit because, well, I happen to LOVE Beyond the Supernatural. It’s a shame that Palladium didn’t publish further support/source books. But, I get it. They have to create content for what people buy in order to pay the bills and make money. Still… The absence of BTS sourcebooks is a downright shame. While Palladium published my random tables in a RIFTER, they never got back to me to even give me a courtesy copy or three. My phone calls weren’t returned. Therefore, I’m hesitant to even submit to them that I would like to write any future source material and content in the form of random tables, horror adventures and/or a monster (supernatural threat) book. Sure, no one’s going to get rich writing for Palladium, but it is a passion of mine, and at last having a phone call returned would’ve been nice. .

Submit your stuff to the House of BTS website. But I feel you buddy, I want to write source material for After the Bomb, but that game gets absolutely zero support. They haven't even pretended to promise a new source book for that line.

Re: THE HANDY DANDY RANDOM ADVENTURE GENERATOR
Alright. Put everything into an excel sheet and made it so that it rolls from 1 to 100 characters with upto four personality traits each. The "special" event table now 100 items including 49 "nothing" happening (since USUALLY, nothing is happening, and 3 multi rolls producing between 1 and 6 special events. If one of the three multi rolls occur It will also roll upto 6 supernatural threats. It also rolls 1 to 50 special items (it may produce duplicates). Removed equinox or solstice (can't remember which was present) from the special event table and now the "time of year" now has 1457 possibilities including 4 Winter solstice (always happens on Dec 21st), 1 leap year, Spring Equinox (with two 3/19 and 3/21 and three 3/20), Summer solstice (with three each for 6/20, 6/21 and 6/22), and Fall Equinox (with 1 9/21 as it has not happened for several MILLENNIA!! Three 22, three 23 & two 24).

It needs an instruction manual. I can only load new results by closing the spreadsheet and reopening it. Also the date field returns an error and I don't know what is causing it more how to pickle. Otherwise works out pretty well.

Hopefully you got my new one with the correction and the button across the top to reroll, also you can select a cell that doesn't have a formula in it and press delete or go into the "Formulas" tab in the ribbon and select calculate now (normally on the far right).
Hope you enjoy it.
