I agree whole heartedly with you on that one Taalismn! There are probably hundreds if not thousands or more of little shipyards thru out the three galaxies that churn out many classes of both civilian and warships for every major and minor powers out there. And each civilazation would probably have their own. It means that the CCW probably has the broadest diversity of small shipyards than any other power out there. But of course this is just my opinion. And I also use Kitsune's rule additions too.

Having a somewhat static enviroment, helps to keep CAF shiptypes
"in check"... However, IDF's probably have their own designs too...
Same for independent powers. Probably the races of the Golgan Republik, too.
As for the TGE... Even the Wolfen were not allowed to keep their Hunters,
so any other cultures, which weren't accepted into the TGE as an important
client race (cca. "second to kreeghors only") it is very unlikely to be thus
privileged.
The remnants of their former fleets however, might be on the intergalactic
market.
Just my two cents.
--------------------------------------
This said, the CAF having 4 "true" capital ship types, the TGE and the UWW
another 4 COMBINED... It is just not enough.

That is a great point KLM! It makes for an even vaster number of ships available for Mercs. And the number of specific ships designs probably almost as diverse as the races out there in the board universe of Phase World.

Considering, that it is "canon" that one can buy parts, like sensors, drive, etc and a giant can

...a SW example came into my mind. The A-wing starfighter, besides being maybe the best
space-superiority starfighter, was also designed to be buildable from component ALL aviable
in that galaxy far-far away. Some of those fighters even had wooden parts! Two more points:
1, Centralised goverments generally require standard types. This goes for almost all
powers detailed, with the possible exception of the UWW.
It is just way more economical to churn out billions of TIE fighters (or more properly
the TIE family), than to manufacture totally 4 or 5 different designs (A,B,X,Y).
2, Even the "standard" types of such totaliarian regimes, like the TGE will be slightly
different in batches, depending their actual manufacturing facility, etc. However,
their main parts still will be interchangeable... With a little tinkering.

So’s theyth wouldath send some real Golgans ahead to really taste the waters and smell out the enemy...We rode down in these little Borchik landers...real lash-ups...like riding a museum rideth, only with the fireworths being aimed ATcha! We’d go in behind our heatshields...no fancy forcefields like today!...And we’d have a dozen roboguns shootingth anythingth that would come close to us...though someties the guns wouldn’t be enough, and a big missile would get through...and poof! Dot would fade off the screen, and we’d be less another dozen of our friends and brothers! We’d drop down into the atmosphere, wait for the last minute...then POOFTH!!! And behind you, the landing crew’s cranking out their guns, because they’re going to be the first target, and they’ll work to draw enemy fire from you for as long as possible...
Of course, that also meant that the oddths of the lander being the same ride you hitched back home would be pretty nil...we went through a LOT of landers in those dayths...Almost cheaper and easier to make than troopers...ALMOSTH.”
---Flangard Gouquin, Lieutenant(ret.), 874th Denobi Strikers, Armed Forces of the Republik, in an interview at the Shemitzz Orbital Retirement Community, Dowlem System, Golgan Republik.
The Borchik BL233 Battlelander is an ancient Golgan Republik design that’s been out of military service for over a century now and is considered to be long obsolete. The design dates back to the early days of Golgan expansion, when Golgans actually took part in the combat aspect of their galactic military. Though considered ancient(even archiac) tech by modern standards, examples of the class can still be found in parts of the Anvil Galaxy even in the modern age.
The Borchik BL233 looks like a giant firework(an upright cone-nosed tailsitter design) or an old Soviet rocket design crossed with a farm silo, complete with erectable escape tower and spring-jacked landing legs. The design sits on six large broad folding landing pads that double as a re-entry heatshield when openned up, petal like(the main hull forming the stamen); the large area of the landing pads also serves to distribute the weight of the lander, and allow for safe landings on soft terrain(like mud or fine lunar dust). Interestingly enough, for a Golgan design, the BL233 has no amphibious landing capability(this was generally taken care of by more streamlined landing shuttle-boats; a few BL233s were modified for water operations, but proved only moderately successful in trials and field operations). The landing plates are made of tough, resilient, and thermal-resistant kamerite-cortorium, a material ahead of its time when the BL233s were introduced, and which accounted for much of the landers’ early successes in combat; besides being low-maintenance and virtually impervious to the heat of multiple atmospheric reentries, the shield-plates also proved quite effective at deflecting damage from battle lasers and plasma cannons.
Propulsion is provided by the Dubalo DriveWerken SparkE series of plasma torch drives, a reliable fusion drive family that is still in production in the modern day, and provided the BL233 with a good turn of speed and excellent braking capability, though later models would downgrade the SparkE in power and add a secondary contra-gravity lift-and-drive ring, especially after opponents learned to spot and target the distinctive thermal plasma flare of the landers’ drives. Golgan crews also learned that by hovering the lander in place and burning extra reaction mass into the torch drive, they could use the drive plume as a weapon, ‘fanning’ it across an LZ as a giant plasma arc, though this maneuver was rather difficult to master and left the lander hovering and vulnerable to opponents off to the side.
Since it is a battlelander, meant to operate in hot combat zones, the BL233 is very well armored for a vessel of its time. The cylindrical hull is well-reinforced and stout, able to take a pounding and still remain operational and structurally sound. The BL233 also arrived on the scene at the same time as reliable forceshielding; the battlelander sports a modest mono-planar forcefield generator that gives it some extra protection.
Armament consists of over six retractable weapons turrets in the sides, mainly point defense and ground attack weapons, meant to attack missile fire inbound to the LZ, and surpress local defenses in the area of the landing. Many BL233s were also modified with an internal bomb-rack that would lob free-fall ordnance as the lander made a ballistic approach to its landing zone, using the ship’s own momentum to toss bombs at targets along its path and help soften up defenses.
An extendable ariel on the top of the lander, looking like the escape tower on old suborbital rockets, holds the ship’s sensors and communications arrays. On the surface, the extra height of the tower-ariel allowed it a greater view of surrounding terrain for securing the perimeter. However, the tower also came to be a favorite target of forces contesting the Golgan landing, and the array had to be either well armored or retracted when the shooting started.
The interior is hardly spacious; meant for relatively short surface-space jaunts, the two interior decks hold little in the way of amenities for crew comfort, and quarters tend to be rather cramped. A lower storage deck holds additional supplies for the troops and surface command post operation; in some early vehicle conversions, this deck was turned into a command/communications center or electronic warfare room. The cargo deck can hold no more than one or two light vehicles(a hoverjeep or three hovercycles), limiting the shuttle’s value as a cargo transport. Later models also saw the addition of external cargo racks, increasing the cargo transport capability of the vehicle, though with the added problem that the external racks would be vulnerable to enemy fire and the elements.
The battlelander was meant as a special forces vehicle; a small, light, landing vehicle that could be deployed into hostile territory, there to drop a squad of soldiers and serve as a bunker-outpost behind enemy ‘lines’ in advance of later waves of troop transports. In this role it served with modest success for several decades before technological advancements(both in the Golgan military and in the forces opposing them) rendered it increasingly ineffective in its original role. The BL233 was kicked back to rear echelon units as a light transport and training vehicle, where it served for several more years, before finally being phased out of Republik service completely.
Today, Borchik BL233s are hardly ever encountered, save as monuments in small backwater Golgan township parks, permanent residents of scrapyards(most missing the rather more valuable kamerite-cortorium shields) , or the occasional backwater operator. A few bounty hunters and private shuttle companies still use BL-233s, though these examples are heavily modified, sacrificing crew space for upgraded propulsion systems, and strapping on large external cargo pods. Experimentation also proved that the BL233 was stout enough to handle the rigors of FTL flight; a few cantankerous old surviving BL233s have been modified with grafted-on CG FTL drives, though they’re hardly the best vessels for such conversion.
‘Sage Burner’ is a classic example of a surviving post-Republik Borchik BL233 still in operation. The transport of modestly successful bounty hunter ‘Galaxy Jim’ Rugburne, the beat-up old Borchik was already over 180 years old and sixth-hand salvage when Rugburne found it rusting behind the hangout of a bunch of dorph-juicer GammaRats he’d taken down for their slash-drives through a local mining belt. When the bounty on the dorph-heads was less than promised, Rugburne took the balance out in salvage from the ‘Rats’ den. ‘SageBurner’ has subsequently been patched up and fixed the hull, converted the middle deck to include a secure two-occupant brig cell, grafted on an FTL drive system(2 light years per hour), upgraded the point defense guns to grav-guns, added a superior targetting system to the weapons, added a medium laser to the nose, and outfitted the entire command/control system to be one-man operable. Other changes have included a generic stealth system and sensor-block suite, variable forcefields. To allow for all of these changes, passenger capacity has dropped to six maximum(eight if they’re using the cell) and it’s even more cramped. It’s hardly made the ‘Sage Burner’ into a battlecruiser or sneakship, but it serves for most bounty-hunt missions.

General Galaxies EF-104 ‘Trogan’ Police Corvette
“Contact Telshat 34586, I repeat again, you are in violation of Vessel Act 4, Section 32...stand to, and prepare to be boar---Blast! They’re making a run for it! Set course to pursue and intercept.”
“But sir, those sensor readings! Begging your pardon, but that thing’s packing more firepower than a destroyer! What if we DO catch up with them? They’ll just blow us out of space!”
“I understand you’re new, helmsman, so I’ll overlook your outburst. But if you look hard at those sensor readings...That ship’s got guns, all right, but the perp’s mounted them on a Queshire Type 94 hull...he hasn’t even bothered upgrading its drive systems and he’s still got the original liquid fuel remass drives....He spent so much money buying those guns to look the ‘space pirate’ and he doesn’t know how to mount them! And what he’s got for a powerplant can’t possibly power those guns for more than two-three shots...
We come up in the exhaust wake of his jets where his guns can’t traverse, we poke a hole in his backside THERE, he’ll lose both his fuel and his reactor coolant...Even if his guns have battery backups, we can let him drift, because he won’t have main engine power...He’ll have to scramble his reactor or have a meltdown...Then, he’s got nowhere to go and we can wait for him to surrender at our leisure...All his big guns will do him little good, since he’s mounted them on a ship that can’t support them, the firepower rube...
Now plot us a pattern-six and keep us in his thrust cone...not too close or the efflux will blind us and we won’t see if he tries to flip end for end, and not too far that we can’t get an accurate target lock on those deuterium tanks...”
“I don’t care if you are the freakin’ scion of the Minister of Agriculture; buzzing the powersat’s still a crime! Now kill your drives and start coasting or that fancy Starfish yacht’s going to sporting a burnt stub where its engines were!”
The EF-104 ‘Trogan’(from a Dehalin District, where the design facility was located, word for ‘neighborhood policeman’) is a low cost in-system patrol craft that is fairly common throughout CCW space.
The Trogan shares many characteristics with other multi-purpose rescue/security craft; large accommodations for rescue/boarding teams, light armament, and reliable, powerful engines. It is an extremely boxy-looking craft, with a squared-off forward fuselage, pylon-mounted main weapons armatures, and a triangular, slightly flared, engine block to the rear.
The Trogan, being a police vehicle, sports only modest armor protection. The variable forcefields are little better than the standard mono-sphere forcefields carried by civilian ships, but the ability to redirect shield power still gives the police vessel an advantage over the pop-gun weaponry carried by most smugglers and wannabe ‘space pirates’. Its standard weaponry is fairly heavy; two medium-class long range lasers and four point defense lasers give a punch capable of crippling even armored pirates and fending off fighters and power armors. However, the standard weapons are often missing from examples of the Trogans sold outside the CCW; typically smaller, light-class weapons are substituted to save cost. Missile armaments are also missing from the Trogan’s capabilities; ‘asteroid-busting’ duties are typically conducted by laser-heating the object in question or landing EVAed personnel to plant charges.
The EF-104 is powered by a General Galaxies’ ANX-CGP-204 contra-gravity propulsion bloc; a reliable engine developed from General Galaxies’ military contract work on the near-immortal Scimitar Frigate. The CGP-204 gives the ship a good turn of speed, responsive handling, and excellent acceleration and deceleration, though the engines do tend to be a bit tempermental without regular maintenance. Permance in atmosphere is lacking; the ship relies on brute-force contra-gravitics to remain airborne and maneuverable in atmospheric performance, rather than hull aerodynamics; this makes pursuits into a planetary atmosphere rather tricky propositions that few crews like to undertake.
Internally, the Trogan has a large forward airlock, with adjacent hold/hangar that can be subdivided to accommodate cargo and/or small craft(if not carrying small craft, this area is frequently used to train the boarding crew, or as a workfloor for servicing orbital navigation beacons; a common duty for in-system patrol craft). Under this section, in a reinforced ‘keel hold’, is a brig, with spartan accommodations for up to twenty detainees(this section can also be modified into additional cargo and workshop space in non-patrol craft). Aft of the forward section, the midsection holds crew quarters, the bridge center, and ready/briefing/ward room for the complement of crew and rescue personnel or boarding troops. A small engineering section aft completes the onboard facilities. Crew quarters are nearly as spartan as the prisoner cells can become rather uncomfortable on long deployments; another reason Trogans are rarely assigned to operations outside an inhabited star system with access to recreation facilities.
The Trogan is not meant as a combat vessel; its light protection and armament are sufficient for interdicting most smugglers and civilian craft, but it is little more than a target when put up against dedicated combat craft. Unfortunately, these ships are often called upon to serve in the line of fire in many star systems that come under attack by superior forces, simply because there’s nothing else available.

*Tractor Beam Projector---The Trogan mounts a single beam projector for handling cargo pods and recovering small craft. Each tractor beam projector can handle 1,000 tons, and has a range of 5 miles.
Weapons Systems:
1) Medium Laser Cannons(2)---The main weapons system of the Trogan consist of two medium laser cannons on the end of extended hull pylons
Range: 4 miles in atmosphere, 8 miles in space
(Kitsune Values: 8 miles in atmosphere, miles in space)
Damage: 1d4x100 MD single blast, 2d4x100 MD for both cannons firing simultaneously
Rate of Fire: 4 shots per melee
Payload: Effectively Unlimited
2) Point Defense Lasers(4)---To defend against rocks, missiles, and other small material hazards, the Trogan has four small PDSLs mounted about the hull
Range: 2.5 miles in atmosphere, 5 miles in space
(Kitsune Values: 5 miles in atmosphere, 500 miles in space)
Damage: 6d6 MD per blast
Rate of Fire: EGCHH
Payload: Effectively Unlimited
Auxiliary Craft:
Some EF-104s have been retrofitted to carry up to four fighters in the forward cargo bay
Variants:
Many buyers outside the CCW(and many inside) cut costs and drop the spec-standard medium lasers to a pair of light weapons(typically doing only 4d6x10 MD per blast and HALF the range), saving 10% on overall cost.
On the other end, desperation has seen some star systems up-arm their police ships with additional weaponry in the forward cargo/hangar bay; usually a missile launcher or heavy cannon, in hopes the adhoc gunships can take down heavier targets.
Likewise, many buyers, anticipating never using the Trogan outside a solar system, save money by removing the FTL drive(or never purchasing the FTL drive option to begin with--a savings of some 20%).
A number of Trogans have been modified into minesweeper or satellite maintenance ships, removing the weaponry, brig, and associated equipment, and replacing them with repair gear and workshop equipment.

Not bad, thought I never want to fly one in combat.
Maybe exchanging the main lasers for CG-1000 railguns (less damage, more range)
could improve efficiency while cutting down prices further.
Also, the "example" Runner Ship in DMB2 can probably tear it apart...
Adios

This is the sort of 'stock' police vehicle that you see racing after Confederate Flag-insignia'ed Runner Ships and running into asteroids or blowing their engines after the chase sequence that makes the cops look like idiots...
(aside: If -I- had to be the Bad Cop in 'Dukes of Hazard'....shorten any potential take-off ramps...set ambushes in advance...-midnight raid-.... and that's just the LEGAL recourses....)

It's a nice little ship. I see what KLM is talking about, but I'm, sure it can always be updated. Maybe we could starp a bunch of Paladin Steel equipment to it and that should eliminate any weaknesses it has. I think it's looks like a fun ship to have for a group starting out.

Nope. To qualify for a deputy to Roscoe sheriff, one must not have an IQ test over
him, so I guess its career is not open for you

I know some people who would qualify for that position. Of course the one who would have qualified moved away.
