Have never seen it....I believe it's been seen as far south as Boston, but never visibile from my part of New England...
I would LOVE to see the Aurora, though...

They keep saying that about the Perseid meteor showers...how much bigger it's going to be, but I have yet to see a 'roaring' meteor shower....

There are two of those meteor showers each year. one is the perseid and I don't remember what the name is of the other one, but it occurs about 6 months apart from the perseids.

It's ok Max. You've learned something you are the lucky one. I'm always trying to learn something new too!

I thought you would. As a matter of fact that other meteor shower starts tonight. I believe it's called the geminid. (I'm almost positive I misspelled it.) Actually spell check had the proper spelling!

You're right about that!
Sadly, however, as is all too often the case, I'm afraid it's clouding up around here...
Though I wonder if the International Space Station is warned of a chance of increased spacial debris density(I wouldn't want to be spacewalking with that many more paint flicks and sand grains zipping around in orbit)....

I'm sure they are warned of the potential problem. I wouldn't want to be on a space walk either during the event. I'm not sure what it looks outside tonight. I'm hoping it's clear tonight for my drive home.

Well, no joy here...overcast all the way...
Hmmm...I wonder if the Splugorth ever used large modified Eyes as astronomical instruments...a mystical ability to see through clouds would be VERY helpful and useful.

Spanish moss is found in certain southern states. It is found I believe right on the coast. It's home to many things including several large species of spiders. Including one species that can catch and eat smaller birds. Spanish moss itself hangs on trees.
Here is a link to a pic of it.

...and associated with the American Deep South...which is scary enough...Having read Faulkner and his tales of the decay of the Old South, then read the horror short story "Pigeons from Hell" by the author of the original Conan stories, Spanish Moss lends itself to the image of old haunted houses and fetid, menacing swamplands like cobwebs in a classic haunted house...

Hmmm,,,but a Splugorth with a yen for that sort of gothic-evil look might deliberately bio-engineer a sort of 'space-moss' or mold that could grow on the outside of a ship, even in hard vacuum....
Normally Splugorth like clean-lined ships that bespeak of refinement(and wealth/power), but some might like the look of craft that look like decayed, mouldering wrecks...and the 'space moss' might also serve a purpose...it could be a living repsir mechanism, growing over breaches in the hull, or dampening sensor emissions and radar returns...Some provision would have to be made so that the stuff couldn't be burnt off the hull easily or by atmospheric entry/exit(or maybe the ship/construct just stays in space).

Arthur C. Clarke was once asked about any sort of rivalry he may have felt towards Isaac Asimov, regarding the latter's prolificness in writing. Arthur C. is said to have replied that "Asimov has written 200 books in 12 years...I'd rather write 12 books in 200 years"...or something to that effect...

LOngevity was more like it...But Asimov was a science commentor and a mystery writer as well as a sci-fi author(though I haven't really been into his stuff as I did AC's....but actually having met the man...if only from the back of a crowded lecture hall...I can attest he was a very sharp and likeable person).

Horrible thought..given the importance of the Eyes of Eyelor to the Splugorth tech-base...and given that the Splugorth would be eager to find similar assetsto exploit...
What if a Splugorth found a Demon Planet, perhaps badly injured from an encounter with some other enemy(maybe it was hit by WZTech's Chimaera-class 'Godslayer' Destroyer, encountered comebody willing to use BIG antimatter charges, or an angry war-god), so the demon planet is easily subdued/kept under control while the Splugorth's minions start harvesting and modifying parts of its anatomy.
THis gives the particular Splug an incredible new source of powerful parts and additions(imagine a bioborg centaur with the lower body of a CRawler) that has the rest of the Splugorth envious...there's been nothing like the new symbiotes and biomods appearing in this Splugorth's arsenal been seen before....
THe power leap is incrdible, but the danger is infathomable....The Demon Planet is only hurt, not subdued, and it resents being slave to ANYBODY...and the Splugorth has unwittingly given it new avenues of power...Perhaps every symbiote harvested from it retains a remote link through back to the Planet, or maybe a two-way link...so the Planet knows all that its various scattered parts experience, and can use those same components to corrupt the recipeients, draining PPE from them and slowly turning them into extensions of its own will, until it ultimately has an army of demons at its beck and call...
And what if whatever hurt it in the first place is still out there and hunting it down? What happens to all the symbiotes if the Demon Planet is attacked again, or destroyed? Do they die off, explode, or suddenly mutate into berserkers?
So go wild creating a new realm of cymbiotes and radical Demon Planet-derived monster mods....There's a new Splugorth in town and he's playing with fire...

Hi there!
While the living-planet Eylor seems to be a favourite,
for my part, the sploogs just grow these eyes in vats.
Maybe from a zembakh's eye, maybe from another
living, sentient being.

Or the Splugs could be caught in the middle of one between the forces of Hades, Hel, and the Demon Planet, which is using small groups of bioborgs it has corrupted through their implants to act as its agents...The Demon Planet isn't yet ready to break free of Splugorth control...it wants to watch as its exploiter gets caught in the middle of a war it never knew it was supposedly fighting...

Hopefully, the forces of Darkness will be content to just tear into each other...problem is, the collateral damage creeps, and the Demon Planet(s) and other factions aren't going to be content with just watching other Dark Gods bash away at each other when the goal is all those tasty Light-worshippers and that vast big body of undecideds....

Well, properly speaking, the two extremes should be as intolerable as each other...but then people will simple call the side they can stand 'Light' and the side they don't like 'Dark'....merely a matter of perspective and convenience...
As a character in Keith Laumer's 'A PLague of Demons' puts it..."Hell seems to come in two colors...light and dark."
