The use of fossil fuels promotes the release of mutagens that alter plant and animal life into analogues of early life forms(dinosaur cows, anybody?).

Time flows backwards human kind is unevolveing and becomeing less technologicaly advanced.

The mother planet has finally come looking for its marooned children only to discover that the new stars color and Gravity have altered the people of earth into what we have today.

After searching half of the galaxy and not finding any other life forms scienceist reexamine what they know about life and find that earth is slightly out of phase with the rest of the universe. Working on the problem tirelessly scienceist come up with a solution to the problem and shift the earth into the correct phase variance. Discovering that we are smack dab in the middle of the largest empire in the galaxy.

After making it into deep space and making contact with other species earth is reveiled to be a nature perserve keeping humans from dying out in the universe.

When mankind makes contact with other life forms in the galaxy we are told that humans once ruled the galaxy with an iron fist. Our empire was destroyed and earth was bombed back into the stone age all technology was striped from us and we were allowed to survive in order that we might change and one day take our place in the galaxy as peaceful memebers of the galatic allaince.

That is a cool SciFi one!

While searching Antartica humans discover a massive Aincent Military complex containing a Planet Destroying Cannon and files which describes a cold war between Earth and Another planet located between earth and mars called Nod. This war went on for thousands of years until hostilies came to a boiling point. Nod launched Missiles containing all sorts of viruses and plagues and what not. In response to this attack earth fired its cannon punching a hole right through to the center of Nod. The planet shattered into millions of pieces resulting in the astroid field between earth and mars. Mean while 99 percent of earths population sucomes to the biological attack of Nod forceing mankind to start over.

Those are both excellent alternate worlds!

Meanwhile, the Pope is forced to tread softly with a Spain that is more powerful than before, and a Spanish-Austrian monarch who may well be able to dictate terms to the Papacy....Does Church win out, or does a Catholic Civil War between the Spanish ultra-hardliners and the Italian hardliners break out?

Instead of earth haveing an Ice Age it has a Desert Age where most of the water goes underground turning Plains and Forest into Deserts. The sea level drops dramaticly exposing all but the deepest parts to air.

A squad of USA GB-10s gets caught in a time rift and find themselvs at the start of WW2. Due to the partiotic nature of the pilots they turn over the GB to the US government so that it will give them an edge over the Nazis. The pilots also teach the US government how to pilot them. As a result WW2 last about 4 weeks before the Nazis are completely defeated.

A Triax experimental facility winds up appearing in the Arden during the Battle of the Bulge, and is fired on by Allied forces....will the New German Republican soldiers side with their countrymen, or assist the Allies in bringing a quick end to the war(and maybe prevent the Cold War from happening)?

How about a world where conflicts are settled by seeing who can make who laugh the longest and hardest! Where laughter is the best medicine!

People switch gender with the day-night cycle....IF somebody becomes pregnant in their female cycle, they stay locked until shortly after delivery/termination of the pregnancy.

Humans have abused the earth to the point that the atmosphere is totally corrosive nothing can last long on the surface before it starts to dissolve or rust through. Forceing humans to make a choice flee underground or leave the planet. Splitting the human race in to different factions.

A future Eath environmental movement goes to extremes....ALL communitioes must be able to produce at least 50% of their energy, food, and material needs....EVERYTHING must be recycled..Every able bodied person must assist in environmental bioremediation efforts as part of manadatory community service...Tourism in the wild may ONLY be conducted by the ultimate 'hands off' uber-tech means...via nano-mites or a new technology of artifical astral projection(also the same technology the Ultra-Greens use to spy on people to make sure they comply with the laws).
Naturally, faction of uber-consumer 'Userists' and monument-building 'Markers/Commemorists'are running lose trying to make a statement for 'guilt-free' human existance...the extremists of these groups want a return to the old ways(and are thus called 'clearcutters' and 'Dumpers')...a few space-fanatics(the 'Manifest Destiny MOvement' ) is clashing with the extremist 'Cosmo-Purists' who don't want the 'disease' of human kind spreading into the 'pristine' galaxy....For the most part, however, most people toe the 'Green is Safe' line, but a few are worried about the zero-population growth that's been the norm for the last several decades......

the worlds oceans are freash water instead of salt water and filled with giant parainha. Also all freash water sources are noe salt water a role reverseal if you will.
