It has huge potential for making it the ultimate munchkin weapons platform that the players could use regularlly. You could probably mount several synchro cannons on it. Imagine that sort of fire power if you could mount 4 of them on the Monster.

Had in my campaign an Alien Field Scientist who was using an old model MAC for a testbed for various insane experiments....including:

*Surface to Space Cannon(both rocket-propelled shells and beam weapons)
*Variable Forcefields!
*Automated Point Defense cannons!

Needless to say, other PCs stayed clear of the MAC garage...

Who wrote those Taalismn? Dyson spheres are very interesting creations. It'd be nice to have one arouind in various setting for the GM to use. Even if the star was about to go nova. The star would have to be stable, which means it'd more than likely like our star. Which according to the experts will only go nova, not super nova.

Roger McBride Allen, I believe, wrote them...it's a two-part story, since I haven't heard of a third book to wind up a triology(kinda hard to see how you'd build up a third book, considering how the second one winds up)...

From what I can determine from the animation it sets up a growing fold field that reaches a size about the side of earth's moon. The expansion of the fold field from its core engine rips apart the matter it encounters. Then taking the matter to a place unknowable. Even planets are not immune to its effects. The afterwards pictures show the planet with a "divot" taken out of the side of the planet, about the size of a third of an apple in relative size at the scale of a planet.

This from a device not much bigger then a large SUV.
However, I'm going on what was shown of the device. It might of been buried and want was shown might of be the tip of the 'iceberg'.

What does it run on? If it runs on gas we could all be in trouble. One jump could use up each planet it ends up near. That is one way to use up the universes finite supply of petroleum.
