The victor in most mountain fights has the high ground and the passes under their control. Depending upon the maneuvers and the team involved, it's easy to become separated and lost. Radios won't work well, aiming guns is difficult unless you're shooting level, weather is unpredictable always, and a few other things, not to forget altitude and simple walking issues, all come into play in mountain adventures.

A dark misty valley would likely be the best place for a showdown.

Getting there could be a real ***** though.

Some good information about the Canadian portion of the rockies:

Still looking for an appropriately spooky location.

Big problem with using the Banff hotel is that we're putting ourselves in the middle of an area full of tourists.

and by full I mean post Thanksgiving dinner type full. Everytime I've gone to Banff the palce was totally overrun - no elbow room despite being in the Canadian wilderness.

The location is not all that remote and seculded in other words.

Maybe we should look at one of the abandoned mining/lumber towns further north?

Also, this one:

Both are relatively close to each other. They're also in the mountains and near Banff while being removed from the mainstream tourist activity.

I thought about the one at Coalmont, but it still has a small community present.

The one with the guy's wife reminds me of the 'Cremation of Sam McGee', so I like it.

The Cody one looks very appropriate. I'm not sure of its exact location, though.

There's 15 people living in Sandon, two miles away from the Cody Ghost Town.

http://www.sandonbc.com/

Very remote, in the mountains. Lots of structures left to play hide and go die in. Links to the supernatural. A very small town nearby.

I think Cody has everything we need as a final destination.

Another part of the Valley of the Ghosts. http://www.ghosttowns.com/canada/bc/retallack.html

Or, we could go with a World War 2 Internment Camp: http://www.discovernikkei.org/nikkeialbum/en/node/42

I'm wondering if the whole valley of the ghosts couldn't be a series of ley lines, nexus points and/or transitional places of power?

If we want to use Retallack, someone is going to have to NPC Ken Smith (not what he seems?).

The interment camp won't likely be standing still.

Still a fan of the cody site.

Well we can always say there's a bunch of stuff still standing at the internment camp,

But Cody/The Valley of the Ghosts defnately works. The party can enter th Valley at Sandon, talk with some fo the (strange) locals there and find out they have to go to Cody.

I hope someone remembers to bring a jeep.

I think Nemese will be going in on foot or by 4X4 ATV.

Well ahead of everyone else.

There will be packages left behind at Sandon containing maps of the area and disposable cell phones as well as Motorolla hand sets. The cell phones may have intermitten service in that area but the motorolla's should be fairly reliable in close distances. One of the locals will have them all in a package addressed to 'The out of place outsiders'. The package was dropped off earlier when no one was around to see who done it. There was an envelope with cash inside and a note promising more if the delivery was made.

Maybe another note leading the investigators to Cody. Or the locals tell the investigators that some strange man (or men) headed off in that direction (this would be dym).

There may be a red herring or two present to throw the investigators off.

You know, this is a fairly isolated and small community (Sandon). Might be they have an unsual trait or secret to hide. Are they good guys, bad guys or just bystanders? Heh. Maybe they're worried all these investigators are here to find their friendly Big Foot?

I think maybe the locals give reason to return. Speed, surprise, and initiative are key to getting even a shot off at dym.

You know, with a creature like dym running around, I imagine they'd get quite agitated. (referring to big feet).

Hmmm.

I'm thinking that towards the end of the cat and mouse game that Nemesis has been playing with dym there should be a blatant indication that dym has had enough and has decided to take a personal hand in things. He may need to post once more, at least.

As a final online referance, Nemesis can mention "I'm going to see Cody in the Valley of the Ghosts."

That should be enough to lead all the investigators to the final confrontation.

Alternatively, when they catch up to the handler, they learn from them that dym has gone to take care of business in the valley of the ghosts. (Or is following up on Nemesis' last post, from above).

Whatever happens to the handler and the conduct of most the fight with dym will be up to others to work out. I think I have a pretty solid handle on everything leading upto those two events.

It is all looking good. I don't think we need another account though to tell the story; hopefully we can get by without dym posting again but once more isn't going to be a problemo.

I'm pretty much busy today after work and probably won't be near a computer very much if at all. Tomorrow after work though I'm all free. Or at least I should be.

We should all get together and chatter about things tomorrow evening if possible. I will have had an opportunity to read up the sites more, too, by that time.

Well, as long as it isn't an insanely potent 13 line nexus . . . (sorry Ben)

Nothing wrong with a couple of ley lines coming to a point in the valley though.Yeah it boosts a Goqua, but it also explains why he might be there.

It also provides a boost to folks like Michael and Shadow who would already be the best offense agaisnt dym anyway.

Depends on your definition of silly. It's not a bad idea, it just may not work for this particular scenario.

How about a transitional place of power instead of the Ley Lines - explains why human habitation went on for a decent period without major supernatural interferance, but it's re-opened recently.

Stay on track! Get cracking! Type those posts! Generate those ideas!

I'm pretty much good to go, I just have to fine tune things base on other reactions when the posts go up. The parts left seem to be co-ordinating the final battle, the investigators locating the handler and the investigators tracking down dym for the final battle.

The hard part for me is going to be not going to fast. Have to remember to leave lots of time between posts to travel and get things done.

Are we sticking to the Aug 1st date for the final battle?

Okay. I'm online and on MSN.

Apparently mountain time IS better than geological time. :-?

I'd say GhostSpider and Willie Long in close quarters; also Caliburn, Kolya and Pendragon at range. Celeste used to be, as did KonThaak (as far as magic goes).

Really, though, there's no shortage of characters that could fill the hammer role.

Micheal T good power choice too, especially near a transitional place of power - some pretty hot fireballs could be thrown.

This Sunday evening, Nemesis will be making a post in War Stories about a "Mission Complete".

By around Monday or Tuesday, it should become apparent that something isn't right about the story.

Those who investigate will find that while a triple homicide matching that decription did occur in Miami, the ambulances transporting the bodies disappeared after leaving the crime scene.

Those with connections to forensics evidence on the scene will learn while there is much blood, all of it was pigs blood.

The family appears to be unaware that there was a set up but they're not taking inteviews.

Those who observe the family will see a bunch of thugs close in on the house around Tuesday evening, but the gang of six bruisers will all be dropped in rapid succession by sniper fire.

Wednesday morning, Nemesis will make a new post, revealing that the hit was a set up.

Also, to all my American neighbors and friends,

HAPPY INDEPENDANCE DAY! :D
