The rest has been submitted to Harmony Gold for review and approval. I have assigned some of the artwork and will be assigning more. http://www.palladiumbooks.com/index.php ... er-22-2011UPDATE: Robotech® New Generation™ Sourcebook is in final production. I assigned the artwork last weekend and sent the rest of the text in for Harmony Gold’s final approval. Apollo Okamura has finished the cover and it too has been submitted for approval. Apollo is also illustrating the characters from the television series. Allen and Brian Manning are busy illustrating the mecha, vehicles and other parts of the book. Pending approval from Harmony Gold, this book is on track for an October release.
UPDATE: Robotech® Genesis Pits™ Sourcebook. I think we have an excellent shot at seeing this book released in December, 2011. Is this softcover like the older books, or hardcover like the deluxe shadow chronicles, and if its softcover, while the new TSC be the original of the deluxe version?
I hope they just move the Deluxe version over to a perfect bound volume.

Right now I'd spring for hardcovers...I just HATE the look and feel of dog-eared soft covers and that laminate-peeling problem they never seem to have figured out how to prevent.

But before Kevin announced the full-sized book, this would have given the impression the Manga Sized was actually wanted by fans, even when polling data said otherwise.
but now, I want them to sell out the stupid manga sized books asap.

Yeah, thats pretty stupid IMHO. (not your statement, but Palladium's stance on the subject). Those who want the Zentraedi sized books have already bought the manga sized because they had no choice. Those who didnt like manga in the first place never bought the books in the first place. Now we have to pay Palladium to correct *their* business mistake before they give us what we really want. Fail.
At least PB has listened to the fans and are *going* to give us what we want, but first we have to buy books we already own to get Zentraedi sized? that sucks.
PB should just fill X-mas grab bags with the manga sized to get rid of the stockpile and start production on Zentraedi sized for regular sales immediately. That's what I would do.

I will order another set of books just to help speed along the process of getting my full size books. However i have to agree with Kagashi, feels wrong to have to order a set of books i do not want for the ones i do. I would gladly order the deluxe book.

The Link confirms the Stupid Franken-mecha are in the book... "awesome".... its funny how 4 years ago Gideon and CO. told us that since something wasn't shown EXPLICITLY in the show, it wouldn't be in the RPG... and now we get Franken-Mecha... once again HG shows its (in)consistency...

funny how most of the time they in fact hid from Invid unless force to fight so it seems to me to fit the show pretty good.

Of course, since the Invid can detect reflex energy, it isn't much of an ambush.

I think he means the torso is 180 degrees off. For a real ambush, he should be facing the opponent. It looks to me more like the cyclone pilot realized he was about to cross paths with the Invid in an chance encounter and is taking the opportunity to better his situation rather than a planned ambush from either party.
ESalter wrote:Gryphon wrote:Honestly, this is the best of the lot, though not by much.

Me too. If it is indeed an ambush, the rifle would be pointing at the opponent, not the ground. At the very least...at the ready. You would think an REF trained soldier would know that. Then again...he could be a freedom fighter who happened upon a cyclone suit and has no such training.
But the artist wouldnt have a very good picture if we were looking at the back of a cyclone which isnt very exciting. Two tires on an engine block. Wow.

I was more worried about the gun's weight; it's very heavy, supposedly.
Gryphon wrote:That's more or less what I meant. If he was doing it "right", we would be seeing the back of his head mainly, and part of a rifle, not very sexy that. This version is technically wrong for an ambush, or really any kind of engagement save for a full fledged withdrawal, but it gives us more detail on the Cyclone, and we still get a perspectivized view of a menacing Invid Shocky, so its all good.
Oh; I thought you were writing about the "Charlie's Angels" thing.

96 pages would be over 200 in Manga size... hence why the Manga size was a rio-off to begin with, made you think you were getting alot of info for a good price.

IDK, the old RPg was THIN.
Sentinels was only 159 pages, and it had pages of deckplans.
book 1 was 112
book 2 was 48
Book 3 was only 48 pages. with an asking price of 8 bucks in 1989. (15.91 in today's dollar with inflation.)
They re-printed a Full-skill list in each generation book, which was tons of reprinted filler-pages to up the page count.

Yeah, the 200 page manga sized books were about on par with the 90 page zentraedi sized books in terms of amount of material. The only difference was, you had one mecha spanning six pages instead of 2 plus a pic causing unnecessary flipping to read said source material. That and you cant put the book down to record said material on the computer which uses two hands to type without some creative ways to keep the book open. The old books stay open just fine. Same material...more functionality. And if you really want portability, get a PDF for your Kindle or Nook like normal people who understand technology. Or use a backpack like the millions of students do every day. Having a manga sized book stuffed in your jeans back pocket on the bus is just...weird looking.
A Rifts size book would have covered all three previous re-imagined Robotech books and Palladium wouldnt have made three times the sales. And now they get to pull a George Lucas and reissue them in a new format (which is what I wanted to begin with, so in this case, unlike a few rocks in front of R2D2, I will buy the zentredi sized books). Although I love the idea of a single compilation book, Palladium is making all sorts of money off of Robotech.

Kagashi - I think we agree and disagree.
You are right, having a Manga sized book stuffed in your back pocket or in a jacket is odd. But it is better than having a full sized book for reading consumption on said public transit or in an office environment.
But I definitely agree with you on a PDF Format, but sadly - Palladium does not want it. They are dragging their feet, fighting tooth and nail to just get out of print titles in PDF. And from everything I have heard, they are crappy scans and not even bookmarked well.
So jump forward to Manga and Computers. I don't know about you, I have a problem with the old books opening up to certain pages unless I break the spine. So if you are willing to break the spine, do it with your Manga - Done! If not, your still going to get creative - Done!
Having the same mecha span 3 pages, you got me. But it really doesn't matter much. Most of the problem with the Manga Edition falls under layout and editing. Not the material itself. And trust me when I say - there is plenty of material that can be covered to make that 96 pages to 150 something. Again, this falls under layout, editing, and probably HG.
