Seren blinks up and glances around as the lights go out, scratching her head and hopping up from her seat. "Hmm... Thanks for leaving the lights on..." She shakes her head, walking back for the door, and stepping out onto the campus at large, heading for her Cyclone. "Now... what to do next..."

She glances over in the direction of the xenosciences building. "Hmm... Wonder if some of the earlier class notes were serious..." She starts heading that way, checking over her good NRPD marked CVR, and slipping it on.

GB has finals this week. Besides he might start a new thread after the holidays. We can only hope he does!

OOC: Hmm, think a new thread might garner more interest, if it keeps away from some of the silliness? I always thought silliness was part of it. Just wish more people would hop into the light RP thread. The silly could have lease there. :p

KInda lost some of its momentum with teh lack of new hard material to respond to...offer multiple sides of the story to, and generally lampoon...

Of course, since we have Invid and Tirolians and Zentraedi here, we can always have a live munition roll into the room from somewhere...

Well, i figure if GB gets finals done, that might allow it to pick up with new hard material to respond to.

Hmm, a live munition. That might be entertaining. ;)

i'll probably start a TSAW 3.5 thread to cover the stranded Masters and the invid, including reposting the few invid lessons i already have.

just don't expect it prior to next week, ok? after finals i head up to family in missouri, and the soonest i'd be able to start something new like that would be sunday. :)

as for the sillyness, i don't mind much, it's some of the only rolepaly i've been able to do lately. that and one i had been doing over at the classicbattletech boards. you think this is silly? when all three of us over there took a break, we had the starwars empire teaming up with jedi cylons and my startrek/stargate group to fight a shadow/species 8472 alliance which was backing the gundam/macross/Yamato group. amazing what can grow out of a simple christmas game 3 years ago.

Wow. ;) Yeah, that is silly. Wow. At least we're still reasonably close to topic. A 3.5 thread sounds very cool though, yes. ;) Don't work too hard though. Your class will of course be back for the 3.5. I will be, anyway ;)

Taal: "Okay, now I REALLY wish I hadn't been watching human movies...and if it's HUMAN Genesis Pit experimentation, odds are whatever they created ain't tagged so we green-bloods can sense 'em."

OCC: Funny story back when I was cleaning movie theaters at the old Strand in Oak Bluffs...about the time 'Aliens' came out, we discovered that the theater's ventilation system was home to a feral cat and her kittens...They'd come out to the big floor-level vents just under the screen and look kitten-crazed at all the funny people behind the grill...scared the bejeezus out of a few of the front-rowers who suddenly looked down and saw something looking back at them...
We ultimately lured the little buggers out with some cat food...then big momma came out...BIG cat, and she hissed...
We had no exoframe for dealing with her...

Seren peers back over at Taal. "There can't be that many places to hide it..." She slips off further to Exobiology, rolling her Cyclone along. "And it doesn't matter how they're tagged. What matters is confirming whether or not that's what it is, and shutting it down before something dangerous happens, if there is one." She slips her helmet on, and straps it firmly into place. "Haven't had to go into one for ages, last time was to rescue a friend who disappeared in it. Definitely not a fun situation."

ooc: lol ;) I can just imagine how creepy that'd be during Aliens. Even better if the cats hissed at the audience during the movie. Great for giving people nightmares for a month. ;)

That's Buckaroo Banzai...don't know where he figures in...oh, wait, theatre film club?

Don't remember the sentry guns from the original cut, but I still love the gimballed assist harness and the manportable machinegun...

Were they part of the original colony or did the Marines have time to set them up when they established their fallback in the colony command center?

No, that was not remote. That was up close and personal. You'd have to find a way to turn off the aliens ability to adapt various races it encounters as it lays it's eggs.

Comes with my 'Rules on How to Survive in Deep Space"

Rule #1 Think Before Acting
Rule #2 If a colony drops out of communication, proceed with caution to orbital range. Use remote sensing platforms to verify the colony is still there. If colony is still intact, attempt contact again. If contact cannot be re-established, investigate with remote probes. If remote probes drop out of contact, nuke colony.
Rule #3 Apply Rule #2 to spacecraft that mysteriously reappear after several years and refuse to acknowledge hails.
Rule #4 Remember, in deep space, where you're far from backup, nobody can see you alter the ship's logs.
Rule #5 Space travel is dangerous work, and everybody who ventures into the unknown should know this. Losses are to be expected in conquering the Final Frontier---Remember this before deciding to bring the alien-infested crewmember back aboard the ship.
Rule #6---It is the responsibility of the unknown alien lifeform to convince you it is harmless...Don't assume it's friendly right off the bat.
Rule#7---Space is Vast. Keep as much of it between yourself and that unknown whatever it is.
Rule #8---Regard any suspicioulsy healthy sole survivor of a wreck in deep space as a quarantine hazard. Airlocks with remote-operated explosive bolts on the outside hatch are legitimate quarantine areas.
Rule#9---Pulse Rifles are excellent communications devices. Flamethrowers count as hygiene tools.
Rule#10---Ancient relics can wait for proper investigation with a properly equipped scientific staff and military backup. Do not be in a hurry to take it aboard, put it in tow, or go aboard it.

How many dumbass space explorers, rescue workers, and supposedly professional spacers would be saved by following these simple rules?
Instead, they're desperate enough or following the wrong book, and get themselves picked off....
In anime, that freefloating cryosaphogau is holding a naked chick who will be your love interest. within 3d6 hours..In Western sci-fi, it's an alien, super-soldier, alien-altered psychopath, or religious nut who will carve your kidneys out by way of introduction...

LOL That is a good one. What sort of wrong books do you think they'd read?

Procedure manuals that tell you it's proper to harddock with a suspect spacecraft, open up teh interior of the ship to an unknown environment, the company is always right, etc...

Add to the list of Rules:
Rule#11---You shall NOT have an integrated computer system in control of vital ship systems that can be reprogrammed or otherwise infected by outside sources.

Rule #12---Take all estimates for life support and QUADRUPLE your capacity...take along enough spare parts to build a new ship, or several smaller ones, in event of the 'unthinkable'.

Rule #14--Identify the hotshot, troubled-past, pilot, mechanic, or drifter in the group and handcuff yourself to him...there's a 50% chance that a) he will be first to fall to alien temptation/mind control, in which case you will be in a position to immediately kill him and nip THAT problem in the bud, or b) he will be the only one to have the brains to know how get out of a bad situation alive, so sticking close to him isn't a bad idea...

Rule #15--If tempting food, drink, or deceased loved ones start showing up, sound red alert.
