Health Considerations for the Open House

Ever notice that people tend to get sick after a con? It's because you have a lot of people in a small place and unfortunately, most people decide that they don't need to take care of themselves at a con. Wrong.
Here's some tips to survive the con illness free or close to it.
1) Shower. Do this in the morning when you get up and at night before bed. Ensure that the germs don't have enough time to take root in you.
2) Eat well. The body needs energy to keep up it's defenses. This doesn't mean eat expensively, but don't skip meals to save a few bucks. Or, do as I do, eat small meals throughout the con. They offer free breakfast at the hotel so don't skip that!
3) Bring hand wash. Alcohol based hand wash is best because it doesn't take water. Just give your hands a quick cleaning every hour or so. We're probably going to be shaking hands, sharing dice, sheets and paper and through the hands is the main way the germs travel. Keep that in mind.
4) Cover your mouth and nose if you have to sneeze or cough. If at all possible, with a kleenex or cloth. If you have to use your hands, sanitize afterwards asap. Get yourself a travelpack of kleenex before you go and it should handle you throughout.
5) Don't over do it. Cons are great and tend to be rather tiring afairs. If you're exhausted at the end of the night, don't stay up another 4 or 5 hours just because. Get your sleep. That will keep you healthy more than anything else.
6) Have fun. Bring only the money you're willing to spend at the convention without problem. If you don't intend to use it and aren't prepared to use it, leave the credit card at home. People stress out over this stuff and it's really not worth it. Plus, stress is bad for the body. If you have a cash supply for spending already set up, take that and only that and then you don't have to kick yourself for spending.
Those are my tips, anyone else got any?
