Potential monster material or waste of time?

So yesterday I was kicking around the idea of coming up with new psychic abilities to stay awake in a meeting at work.

Perhaps it was the boredom; the monotony trying to keep me down (like the man), but I started to come up with some odd ideas. One of these ideas was a Sensitive like ability to get snippets of the past from death animals/people/etc. But the catch was that you had to ingest a portion of the animal/person you were trying to get info from.

I know, it’s sick and wrong making a PC become a cannibal to learn something about a person’s or animal’s life. So then I thought perhaps this talent would be better suited in a new supernatural creature or some sort.

What do you guys think? Scrap it or work with it awhile?

Anything can be made worthwhile. In this case, I could see it being a new Latent Psychic ability, or perhaps also an ability for a Medium. As for supernatural creatures I'd say something like a Neural Ghoul or Psyche Terror. I'd also think that a Goqua and Sowki would definitely have.

You know, thats a great point Memphomanic! Supernatural creatures could definitly benefit from a psychic ability like this. You may have started something now Mempho, this could start a slew of Supernatural specific psychic abilites.

Yes, Mephisto has convinced me also. Seeing the past of a body is too much like the power that the Psychic Medium already has, Object Read the Dead. The ingestion aspect is just another limiting factor. If you want a Medium to jump through one extra hoop to make a psychic power work, there is no rule against that. In a PBP game, I have a Psychic Sensitive whose powers only work when he is sober, and he is almost never sober.

There was a necromatic ability in Rifts Africa that was basically the same as object reading the dead. You didn't have to ingest them though.

The ability the way you describe it could be handy for a variety of undead.
