Dead Reign: Dark Places has shipped !

You are on your own. The Army is MIA and our government is gone! There are no communications of any kind. Cities and towns have gone dark, and zombies fill the streets. The dead have risen and it would seem to be the end of the world. Help me, Mommy!

Dead Reign: Dark Places has shipped !

Unread post by AlexM »

More survivor secrets for avoiding the walking dead and some human beings who are less than humane with their fellow human beings. Zombie variants like Worm Meat, the Bug Boy and Sewer Crawler, traveling the rails and boxcar encounters. It's creepy and disgusting - so we think you'll like it.

I haven't ran a Dead Reign campaign yet, but I do have all the books and am in the planning stages.

Most of my players are family... wife, son, a couple of cousins... I hope I'm still invited to the Family Reunions afterwords! :demon:

An idea for the game... Have a family reunion gathering when the outbrak hit... the group can run into a family zombie hoarde. :)

The book is better than I have come to expect from Kevin and crew. He kicked it up 3-4 notches with this one. The writing was excellent, new content added is the awesome, not to mention the art was pretty good. Everyone should by a copy if they are into DR.

My Criticisms:

I like that Kevin tried the new photography thing, honestly, Bradshaw art makes the DR books for me. The other artists make great contributions to the art of the books, but Bradshaw has a nice blend of humor and "oh god my lunch is coming back up." Please note: I am not saying there is any "bad" or even "just good" art, all of the art is "SUPERB" I just have my personal preference. The art for the impersonator zombie was not Bradshaw (I don't have the book in front of me so I can't name the artist) but that work was a cool bit of art.
Sorry, just to note, "Napalm" is a cop-out. It has always been and always will be the second coolest method of killing zombies. Right behind the chainsaw.

That piece was Mumah's little gem, it was also used for the original Impersonator Zombie write up in the Rifter #48.

Thanks for letting me know. Mumah is another great artist. Please note, that for the most part all the current freelance artists that Kev' has are really great. I got The Rifter 48 and I dig the art. The dinosaurs in Norad, not my cupcake but the art is always solid.

The only other thing that I will note about the new book is that there are some small bits that disagree with the original. Like going into the sewers. But based on the reasons given, it is solid. I am really looking forward to book 3 now that I see it in the plans for next year.

I really should check out PF to see how everything looks over there. That is the one line that I have very little interest in, I'm just kinda burnt out on fantasy roleplaying.
