Kyra Shadowborn wrote:I posted this in another forum and dont know if it will be seen, so this is a re-posting.......... Ok, Mr Gleba have another question or 3...First, in Outbreak(History of Center)Pg.73, The first Demon Star was created by a coven of witches devoted to Lord Modeus, yet in the section DEMONIC FORCES pg99 SubSection SECRET OF THE DEMON FLEET,it states the first Demon Stars came from a DEMON PLANET that made a deal with a Demon Lord...so which is it?...
The timeline is basically innuendo, rumor, and incomplete facts. Information that players are likely to come across through research and shaking the right trees. The secrets are in fact just that...secrets that would only be revealed by questioning some demon higher up the food chain than just some field grunt. Remember in the time line the connection between demons and demon planets is just coming to light now.
Kyra Shadowborn wrote:Second, (same page) the 3rd component of creating a Demon Star is either a Demon, Deevil, supernatural being(depending on who's running the ship) none of these ships are being constructed in either sides home dimension so how would a Demon or Deevil work? As when they are killed outside their home dimension their "spirit" floats back to its home dimension and is reborn.(i dont see how that works)...
Well the same question could be asked about the Angar power armor eh?
Presumably, since demons/deevils know how this ritual works, they know how to get around the discorporation. Or perhaps the discorporation is what they want and they are able to capture the carnal essence of a demon/deevil some how?
Kyra Shadowborn wrote:and my final question (I saved the best for last)...In the THREE GALAXIES (DB6),pg39-42 in the Pentarken System...IF,IF Cormal were "lured" to this system, what (if any) effect would The Artifact have on it(since it is classified as a "Planet Killer")...is it... a) too small and have no effect?... b) be able to go toe to toe(somewhat) with Cormal and damage it a lot but not kill it (The Artifact is destroyed and Cormal is severly wounded)... c) they take one another out........these are just some questions and thoughts I had.
Any Enlightenment Would Be Greatly Appreciated...Thanks yet again...Kyra
Excellent question and if this were to happen in my game I'd give extra EXP for the idea. Even more if the players were able to pull it off somehow. I won't dictate what "would" happen because to me your all of your outcomes above are plausible. The Game Master should determine this and how it impacts the story they are trying to tell. If this is a last ditch effort and the players are out of options then this would slow down cormal or open up some other opportunity for the characters to land on the surface and destroy its brain or somehow retrieve the book from General Halthhag. If the story is just beginning and there are still lots of options on the table I'd have cormal gulp down the artifact and for dramatic effect the other half dozen hidden in the system just to see the looks on the player's faces
Good idea

Kyra Shadowborn wrote:i thought about what you said in your reply yesterday, "I'd have cormal gulp down the artifact and for dramatic effect the other half dozen hidden in the system just to see the looks on the player's faces."... However upon further comparison of the 2 (Cormal and the Artifact), unless something needs to be changed around, The Artifact is listed as having its MDC in the BILLIONS, where Cormal's, is only 100 Million (approximately 1/10th of The Artifact), yes i read about the neutronium plating but I guess I'm just not getting HOW something (The Artifact) that is only 65 miles long, 10 miles wide and 21.5 miles high (a) has 10 time the MDC of a planet (Demon Planet) that is the size of JUPITER (89,365 miles in diameter)...
Size doesn't matter. A pair of 500 pound dumb bells weigh more than a man that is 5 times their size. It has to due with density. The density of the armor on the artifact is far greater than Cormal. Where as Cormal is a lot of fluid, guts and flesh. Granted, it's M.D. flesh, but still flesh. The artifact is super science, which for now, is beyond explanation, like phase drives and most Promethean tech.
Kyra Shadowborn wrote:(2)in Outbreak theres 2 different sections with differing statements about the construction of the Demon Stars. Again on Pg 99 it says that, " No one knows exactly how Demon Stars are manufactured, but it involves dark magic, a SPLINTERED fragment of the DEMON PLANET'S being, and a desire for it to make them."...but Cormal can splinter his essence up to 5 times to create offspring Demon Planets...so again not understanding this...does this mean that he (Cormal) can take the energy/material he would normally use to create offspring and put it towards creating 500 Demon Stars(for example) instead of a demon Planet but the 500 ships count as 1 splintered fragment of his essence?...
Yeah a good catch on a contradiction there.
Your idea of the splintered essence is pretty good. So based on what is written demon stars can be created either using a minuscule fragmented essence from cormal or a demon/deevil sacrifice. Your call on the number if that fact really matters for your story/game.
Kyra Shadowborn wrote:(3) I understand that as far as the surface of Cormal is concerned, a hospitable temperature the demons might need(then again if they have no problem surviving in the cold vacuum of space then temperature shouldn't be an issue either), but not a breathable atmosphere (as demons do not breathe air and can survive in the vacuum of space)
Well it is called the Minion War for a reason. Many of the demon minions are mortals. Now the characters can land on cormal and kick some demon arse

I really DO appreciate it
Just call me Carl. Best to keep thing informal on the boards, but the courtesy is appreciated
Glad you like the book(s). I hope you get many hours of fun and enjoyment out of them.

I have a question, it seems that Cormal actually has a Bio-Regeneration ability that I noticed was lacking in the other Demon Planets. Is this the new standard for regeneration for all Demon Planets? Thanks, LOVE this book!

That's exclusive to Cormal.
Thanks DtMK

Thanks Carl! It looks like that little omission from other Demon Planets may be the biggest weakness for them, they depend on their spells, psionics or defense creatures to help them heal. It could be something that players could assume if they survive fighting one Demon Planet, it could be a weakness they may plan to exploit in Cormal. SURPRISE!!!!

Perhaps a combination of the two are simultaneously true? The coven of witches' sacrifice of the luxury liner could've fueled a ritual that allowed Modeus to contact an unknown D-Planet to create the D-Stars?

If a being's soul is trapped then I think that would interfere with the reincarnation process, halting the rebirth process until whatever traps it is destroyed. I expect that's what would happen if a Souldrinker rune weapon or a Soul Harvester sucked up a demon/dyvalian soul. This could be what happens when they are made into D-Stars.

Does anyone know if the Artifact has any size limits? Cormal's Jupiter-like in size, a number of times bigger than normal Demon Planets (5x bigger than his progeny for example) so even if this could work against lesser Demon Planets it's unclear if it would work against Cormal or any other greater Demon Planets that are his size or power.
