Would like to start a new story II

Here I am just coming off of one story, already planning on another, and yet another great story idea pops into mind.

I remember this great story I read as a kid, and recently saw it in movie form. I believe it was called The Most Dangerous Game. It was a suspenceful story of a big game hunter who was invited to this wealthy guy's island. Turn's out the wealthy guy is a bigger big game hunter who is NUTS. The wealthy guy then spends the rest of the book hunting the other guy while the other guy is trying to survive.

I thought wouldn't that be a great contemporary story for the Lazlo " hunters ". One night they are suddenly and mysteriously abducted. They wake up the next morning in some strange place, the only knowledge they have is a stop watch that is counting down and a single note tacked to a wall that reads

" When the watch reaches zero the hunt will begin and you are the prey. Survive for 48 hours and you will be set free and earn $10,000,000. It you fail to survive for 48 hours I will have a new trophy for my wall. "

With that a door opens into a larger open air chamber with a door that leads outside....several other cargo containers open and the other aducted hunters also step out....the watch count down reaches zero....

and the hunt begins.

Well, what do you guys think?

It's a fun plot hook, but I have no characters appropriate for this scenario.

Here's a list. Raven Davenport would be fun, but he's a canon character whom I shouldn't be getting killed. Robert Black-Drink-Howler or Jack Hastings might work if they weren't historical characters from the year 1902. Professor Ali would drink himself falling down drunk and not last ten minutes. Cappy Morgan is way over the top for a game this gritty. I don't even have a character concept for this.

For the irony to work right, most of the contestants would have to be established as experienced hunters themselves -- not nubes. I do see a few ways you could go with it, and they are all good.

That is what I was thinking, but I wouldn't be able to even start this idea until next month at the earliest. I would love to see Ron involved in something like this....maybe I can talk to him and see what he thinks.
