LAZLO SOCIETY POLL

Unread post by Holister »

Hello again my adoring public... :D I am back again with another interesting question.

Can a Great Horned Dragon attack New York?

Could some teenage Area 51 enthusists stumble upon a Coalition Enforcer mech?

Could the recovery of an ancient demonically possessed amulet lead to a Chinese Triad operation?

Could a cellphone be inhabitated by a System's Failure bug?

All are questions that I must ask. Why?I have run similar campaigns using BtS as my staple rule book and other books as sourcebooks. All were normal characters (by BtS-1 standards).

HOWEVER....I have seen from my many years on The Lazlo Site the vast numbers of members and the unique difference between these characters. To say that every character is straight cannon would be like saying I have a bridge in San Fransisco I have for sale.

I am not saying there is anything wrong with. Heck its adds to the concept of a megaverse (but how does it work?) Is each game its own world? If that is the case how do explain the multitude of non BtS characters on a site dedicated to the BtS game? Hum..... :-? :?: :?:

So here in lies my question. Who uses or used what material to create their character and why did you chose to run with that material? Honestly, I know that BtS cannon characters seem to fall short when compared to other Pally titles, so this is more or less a friendly chat and NOT an inquisition.

I have only two character at Lazlo dot org. Raven Davenport is straight out of Boxed Nightmares (so that's 1st ed), and Professor Ali Ufuk was made with 2nd ed. rules. I chose 1st & 2nd editions. That being said, I also get a lot of mileage out of the Weapons Books, so I would have picked Other as a third choice.
Currently recruiting for Beyond the Supernatural games in 2019 which I am running on Discord: voice, text, and play-by-post. Here is the non-expiring server invite link: 418BQSLG

I didn't participate in your little poll, because it wouldn't allow me to choose all of the options I use in my BtS game; but I'll tell you that I have used and still use from time to time:
1st & 2nd edition BtS (I love the news paper in Boxed Nightmares, it plays into the same role as the rags in MiB)
Heroes Unlimited (for the rare mutation or alien invader)
N&SS & Mystic China (for the conspiracies and secret investigations organizations among other things)
Rifts (any book that has something good in it for random extra-dimensional alien)
The weapons books (obviously, for the weapons)
Nightspawn (for the occasional heroic monster)
All of this played out in a BtS world of my own design that does not mimic either of those given to us in either edition.
"The impossibility of the world lies in the fact that it has no equivalent anywhere;it cannot be exchanged for anything. The uncertainty of thought lies in the fact that it cannot be exchanged either for truth or for reality. Is it thought which tips the world over into uncertainty, or the other way around? This in itself is part of the uncertainty." - J. Baudrillard

I made Willie with just BtS2. Tabletop games saw characters incorporating BtS 1, N&S, and Mystic China, and once an Analytical Genius from HU2
As seen in Rifter 20
Called "disturbing" by Therumancer.
Was informed that "Recommending the destruction of a third of the nation is not appropriate."

I have a first edition character for ls.org but I have not put her into action yet, and maybe will one day. I am still unsure.

I have two second edition characters at ls.org.

Would try stay with the core material, however if there were more options to the poll. I would also have checked Dead reign, Rifts, Nightbane. and Mystic China. As they all have great source material for BtS.
Showoff often leads to showdown
Svartalf- Shinobi, You're twisted
Mack- I'm constantly amazed at what people will put their energy into. This planet needs more predators.
Saitou Hajime- What kind of Americian are you?
Shadyslug- Good question

As about me, I have another only because I make retired the first one. I do not intend to run more than 1 character at a time.
