Re: Anyone have Skill Parkour?
I think I remember seeing it in the Physical skills redux thread. I know somebody out here posted it once...

Re: Anyone have Skill Parkour?
well, Parkour isn't really a martial art type thing. Its more like outdoor gymnastics, so I'd set it up in such a way:
Parkour: Learning to do jumps, falls, rolls and other feats of agility outdoors in an urban environment. This sport builds body strength, agility and great endurance as well as grace and balance. Provides all of the following:
Automatically gets climb/rappel skill +5%
40% +5% per level - Sense of Balance
40% +5% per level - Back flip and somersault
+2 to roll with punch, fall or impact
+1 to PS
+2 to PE
+1 to PP
+1D4 to Spd
+3D6 to SDC (to account for the much harsher landings that happen when something goes wrong)

Parkour is defined as the Art of Movement and was created by the French military as a method of moving overland quickly. It is characterized by making the most efficent use of momentum, kinetic energy, and movement to move from point A to B, and often takes the most direct route to the destination, almost without regard to the obstacle.
Parkour and Freerunning are almost identical in nature, but Free-Running tends to focus on tricks more than pure movement, as well as bursts of intense speed. For this, I recommend increasing speed by 2d4 instead of 1d4.
If I quote you, you will get spell-checked.

I guess it could be 2d4 as opposed to 1d4, I didn't really take a lot of time to flesh it out but I'll change it to conform to the ideal. I sort of made it a hybrid between gymnastics and acrobatics leaving out the 'specialized' abilities from both those skills and just upped a few bonuses a bit to make it a viable choice competing between those three. I probably put it down as 1d4 to make it less of a stat upgrade and more oriented to the skills (Climb, SoB and Flip).
If I did change it to 2d4 bonus to speed should I then drop the starting skill level down a bit, say to 35% or even 30%?

Also, I would add 1d4 feet to leap distance, and allow for precision landing

Re: Anyone have Skill Parkour?
This came up in February, so I'm just reposting my write-up. Hope it helps.
Parkour... I'd make it a non-secondary Physical skill (much like acrobatics or gymnastics), or a secondary using two choices (as it could be learned from internet videos plus trial and error, but it's going to take you a lot of practice to do so):
The ability to run, jump, and climb in an urban environment, while always on the move. Focuses on the ability to run faster and longer, as well as climbing up walls, running along ledges, and making leaps from building to building. It also teaches how to absorb a bad fall when it happens, so that one can get back up to keep on the move.
50% +2% per level -- Walk Tightrope or High Wire
50% +3% per level -- Sense of Balance
60% +5% per level -- Back Flip
50% base climb ability or adds +15% to climb skill
+2 bonus to roll with punch or fall
+1 to P.S.
+1 to P.P.
+2 to P.E.
+1D6 to Spd.
+2D6 to S.D.C.
(Some proposed changes made during the original thread include: dropping the back flip skill, but adding +10% to an existing back flip skill if the user has it already... and dropping the SDC bonus from 2D6 to 2D4. Although as I said in the original thread, Parkour is often used to run at great heights. You're going to fall eventually. Those falls *will* toughen your body.)

I"d add a much larger bonus to roll with punchof fall(+6) or have it increase over servera' levels (ladditional +1's at levels 2,5, 9, 14).
Damn ICE/BCP/BorderPatrol! Damn everyone who won’t damn ICE/BCP/Border Patrol!! Damn everyone that won’t put lights in his windows and sit up all night damning CE/BCP/BorderPatrol!!!
If you support ICE/BCP/BorderPatrol at this point, you would have called the Gestapo on the people surreptitiously moving into your neighbor's attic and huffed that you were only following the law.

Re: Anyone have Skill Parkour?
The only reason I didn't have it do that is because, as far as I know, no non-HTH skill has "scaling" bonuses that aren't percentages.
Oh sure, it makes perfect sense... but I'm afraid of introducing "skill creep".
