Transform into an Alien Intelligence?

Unread post by GaredBattlespike »

Greetings!
I have a Palladium Wizard who is looking to transend (throw away) his Humanity by becoming a Being of Power! Note that he would NEVER concent to becoming a Master Vampire, for a few reasons-but mostly he does not want to be linked to anything else(be his own boss)!

My question is this;
"Is there any Ritual(Spell of Legend?) that would do this?
Is it possible to INVENT this Ritual? Or can ONLY DIABOLIST Magics succeed in such a feat-Like Thoth's Tranformation?"

Thank you, GaredBattlespike

(Demon 1):What? you gotta be kidding me!
(Demon 2):Thats what i was thinking...

PFRPG's Old Ones book has an adventure where there is an ancient complex that once belonged to The Old Ones themselves.
In it are some magic circles that can change a person's alignment, gender, and/or physical form.
The Old Ones would use it for recreation, to become mortal for a time just to see what it was like.
Presumably, a similar circle could work the other way, turning a mortal into an Old One. Physically, at least. You likely wouldn't gain any of their knowledge, which would likely mean that you'd miss out on their spells.
Inherent magical abilities, though, and even psionics would be available to you, but only at 1st level of skill to start out.

The problem being that the circle in that book can only transform you into an Elf; you'd need to find another circle or invent one based on the workings of this circle, in order to become an Old One.

An Elf? Yuck! Still, at least it may grant me the lifespan needed to somehow alter the pattern to achive the Power he craves.

IIRC, there's a Circle of Immortality in the same book (different adventure).

Greetings and Salutations. If his only hesitation to being a vampire is the whole enslavement thing, I'll mention the Necromancer spell "Return from the Grave." It's a year long ritual that will effectively turn him into a vampire, but he'll serve no master save himself. Not sure if that helps, but always throwing out options. Not quite as powerful as an Alien Intelligence, but that is pretty high up there and not easy.

The other option I can think of (again, not quite A.I.) would be to get enough worshippers and followers to eventually become a god. How exactly that happens? Well, I don't believe there are any rules for that, but we do have mortals that have ascended into godhood so it should be possible. Anyways, just another thought. Thank you for your time and patience, please have a nice day. Farewell and safe journeys for now.

Circle of Soul Transference is in the Old Ones complex also. Transfer into any being you can capture which fails it's saves.

That should be in High Seas, and, IIRC, it makes you insane as well.

Details, details. :p

Okay, the Circle of Immortality is in High Seas, and The Circle of Youth is in Old Ones (page 207).

What's more, as I double-checked my memory about the Circles I found one I forgot about that might help out even more:
The Circle of Soul Transference.

The cult intends for the Circle to be used to transfer the Old One into the body of a witch in order to break the Old One out of its prison, but it could be used to swap somebody into the body of an Old One. In fact, that's how it works: if the plot succeeds, the Old One will be outside the prison in the Witch's body, and the Witch will be inside the prison in the Old One's body.
The only catch there is that with that particular Old One, you'd be trapped in a prison you could likely never escape from, so you'd likely need to find a different one to swap into.
Also, the circle only works for the circle-maker, so you'd have to study this circle and learn to make your own, if you wanted to be the one in control of the body-swap.
Also also, since the Old One would be willing to swap out of his body, I would assume that a lot of his powers and such come with him when he goes (certainly spell knowledge). It'd be GM's call which powers stay with the Old One's body.
You'd get the natural AR and the Hit Points for certain.
You could argue that you'd get the psionics, but I think that in Palladium they'd go along with the soul.
Since PPE is based on a physical attribute, it could be argued that you'd get all or a good part of that.

But a big part of being An Old One is likely that you're actually OLD; you've been around centuries and learned a LOT of stuff, so body-swapping might not be the best way to become one.
Other alien intelligences would have other advantages/disadvantages, and all or most would be up to the GM.

Only because it's flawed. Being Ageless really has no game effect. I'd allow a PC to perfect it.
