I have been thumbing thru the Dragons and Gods book and I haven't been able to find a God that fits the bill of a God who spreads plague and misery.

Isn't that the role of the GM?

While not specifically associated with plague and misery in the sense you are most likely referring to, Vald-Tegor is about as close as i can think of as a god of plagues. Or perhaps Mormo, the Lord of the Ghouls from the Demon Lords.

Set, a handful of Demon gods, Vlad-Tregor and Tolmet are all candidates who might do it for fun and profit. Utu could, but he would have motives at are at least partially understandable (which might make an interesting dichotomy in a game)

Wouldn't Kirgi also be a "suitable" candidate??

 The last time I played with my friends they were finishing the Castlerake adventure. I had my old PFRPG guy join in with them for the end chapter. At the end Thoth rewarded us by promoting us to godlings. My guy was originally a TA Cursebringer (converted to PFRPG). The two powers I took were for the LLW and Cursebringer OCCs. So technically, it means my PC might be the closest to fitting that role in our gameworld.

While a rat god, a creature normally identified as a plague related creature, Kirgi is actually specified as a patron of cunning, stealth and subterfuge rather than plague, being a patron of thieves, assassins, spies, etc. There really isn't anything pointing to him along the lines of plagues or pestilence. Nice choice, though.

Plagues can just as easily be a tool of distraction to cover up another plot, while everyone's trying to pin it on this or that and finding a cure, he makes off with something else he wants. Like starting a fire across town to rob a museum.

This for sure.

Mormo was a good second.

Vald Tegor third as vampirism is kinda a plague.

Megaverse in flames mentions "the seven deadly plagues". Might hae some ideas if you can wait that long.

Pestilence of the four horseman. God-level villian,

I would have thought Nasu the Corpse (Patheneon of the Megaverse) would fit the bill perfectly.

This is for my event at Gen Con. Its about a mining town ravaged by a plague and the PC's have to find the source. Which will be a worshipper of a plague God. So I need to figure out which god to use before the end of July. Ofcourse this isn't all the details just incase someone from the forums is in the game.

Try the Old One, Ya-blik, symbol of pestilence.

and he's also a line from Lethal Weapon two: "You want to move to South Africa? But ya blik!"

Does it -have- to be a god? What's stopping a cult from worshiping a Mummy Imortalis, or a dragon, or just some guy?

Oh, I was just referring to his ability to direct and control extremely large numbers of rats, but you're right, I see your point.

I suppose it doesn't have to be a God. I was using a Priest of Darkness as the end game villian so that is why I was looking for a God to tie it all together.

I suppose it's more that I feel that a motive you can understand, and an opponent you know is defeat-able (rather then just spoiling their plans) is more enjoyable then some god wasting his time for inscrutable reasons that likely don't make sense :P

There is a reason. The dark priest sought revenge against this village that wronged him by channeling his dark gifts into causeing a plague. I suppose it could be a necromancer. I was just going to use an evil relic of this "entity" to be the source and force the PC's to figure out how to end this after defeating the "boss".

. . . . Having it described in this way now makes me want to have an old, homeless cripple with no teeth be the mastermind behind a massive plot. No one will ever see it coming.

Couldn't you also be original and make your own?

Another take on a plague god might be this; what one thing do plagues create more than any other, including sickness and death? Look for gods who like that sort of thing and have them use the plague as a tool.

Hint: It's a second-level spell.

Plagues create chameleons?! :clown:

Seriously, though - good idea; nice choice for a different angle.
