The RMB is mostly out of date now, most groups use the RUE, so it is probably worth a few extra $$ to get.

to be honest i liked "old grey" better, main difference is a few rules clarifications, the elemental fusionist, and a better format in the R:UE making it easier to find the rules then the old one. (OH and the dragon hatchlings are diffeernt in this one )

I also have the Palladium Fantasy supplement, if there is any information in there (I have found some I could'n t find in the corebook), it that matters at all

Welcome to Rifts. Which book are you using now?

There are several difference's between Ultimate and the Original. Notably some changes to the OCC's, tweaks to the skill system, and penalties for low attributes.

You might want to take a look at this thread as well -

All books are compatible with the new RUE book as well as with the old.

Welcome to the forums. :ok:

I'm a big fan of the RUE, but don't get anything older than the 3rd printing.

The grey book has sample NPCs in the back though and those are helpful.

ugh, how to be nice about this one, while teh Ultimate edition does fix some things, it left out the original dragons and the monster maker tool found in the orignal edition, or the stats for the monsters such as the Fury Beetle and Xiticxs (sp?) Ultimate is also hard cover, and has the Perception rules, so like alot fo the revised stuff from this company you want ot have both versions preferably which completely negates the reason of having an Ultimate edition.
