can undead slayers detect vampires using alter aura?
The title poses the question. From the scope of the description I would say yes, but didn't know if there was more illumination.

Specifically I was referring to their ability to detect the presense of a vampire within 1000 ft

Creatures with specific detection abilities shouldn't be fooled by something like alter aura unless otherwise specified, so an Undead Slayer has the specialized ability to detect things like vampires that requires something more than just alter aura to fool that and may not be any existing spells or psionics that can do that.
Fair warning: I consider being called a munchkin a highly offensive slur and do report people when they err in doing so.

It's 'canon', not 'cannon'. A cannon is a big gun like on pirate ships, canon is what you mean when referring to something as being contained within one of the books such as how many dice to roll for a stat.

alter aura only changes a persons aura. the ONLY power it fools is see aura. every other detection ability works fine.

Nothing indicates that the Undead Slayer ability is based on the "aura."
I'm pretty sure this thread has started before (probably more) and I think the general consensus is that there is nothing in RAW that blocks the Undead Slayer's ability. Maybe, maybe the level 13 Sanctum spell but then you have to deal with the Anti-Undead aspect of the spell.
I'm hoping that the Revised Vampire book will address this. I think the vamps should have a way (though not easy or common) to hide from Slayers.
