Darklings, Whatever happened? (LS.org)

Unread post by Cybermancer »

Way back in the nineties Palladium published Adventures in the Northern Wilderness. On its own, it was pretty awesome. Not the least for the fact that it included Ceratus Dominus, a radioactive dragon. It also mentions that Ceratus Dominus would be back in Darklings, a post apocalyptic setting for Beyond the Supernatural. Unfortunately, it never materialized or became something else. Quite possibly it became what we now know as Rifts.

Then again, maybe it never materialized because our Heroes at Lazlo prevented it?

We recently had a winter solstice (longest night-things are darkest), just days from the year 2012 (the alleged end of the world due to people not doing the research about how the Mayan calendar really works).

Seems like a good chance to prevent the end of the world as we know it.

Here's the general idea in a nutshell. There's an eldritch abomination trying to get to our world. It needs several things to line up just right in order to be able to pull it off. It needs a winter solstice (for the darkness). It needs X number of minions (I'm thinking about 2500 will be the critical mass). It also needs to have an Avatar already in the world. As it happens, it achieved all these things with the last Solstice. Now it just needs to wait until the next winter solstice before moving into the real world.

The goal of the heroes will be to uncover that this is happening, reduce the number of minions and kill the avatar all before the next winter Solstice.

It has already started and things aren't going very well for the Lazlolites. Despite some initial victories, there have been casualties and set backs. As more develops, I'll try to keep people abreast here. Some additional threads that are related to this year long plotline should be appearing shortly. Here's a hint. A New York native will be taking a trip to Germany and a martial artist will be sending reports from Japan.

I've never played the fnatasy game or even seen this book to offer any insights. Sorry taco. :)

The notion that it became Rifts makes a lot of sense though per my conversation about BTS with Kevin.

By night I'm known as Steven Dawes, that "BTS" guy, and the Host of the House of BTS!

Raven Davenport will be providing intel support from time to time.

Btw, whose character was Technocrat anyway?

This plot/adventure is still ongoing. Anyone who wants in doesn't have to go through me. Lord Z/RAVEN, Hibik/Gotham Witch and Jefffar/Ron Caliburn are also points of contact for those looking to get in on some death cultist action.

Wie might want in, once she's strong enough (if it's still happening). She unknowingly has some heavy background with a death cult of sorts.

This will be going on for awhile, so by all means. A lot of people wouldn't mind seeing her again.

And Mel still wants to know what the deal is with the not dead vampire!

It's not annoying, just more tantalizingly mysterious. It just has Mel very wary and wondering if she should find a way to pursue this enigma more - that's the gloomy detective in her, I guess.

Good. :) (I like it when my characters tantalize rather than annoy.) Later on when I have more time, if Gotham Witch ever wants to track this poster down, maybe I can set up a few trails to possibly follow. (If you're interested.)

I'm liking this idea. We should!
