I don't remember the weight difference, but remember that the CP-40 also has the ability to connect to outside cannisters with it's port.

Not to be nit picky but what is the source for that? As far as I know you get no bonus for "pulsing", only for "bursting"

Check RUE, page 361, Weapon Modifiers, Rapid-Fire Pulse.
No penalty for pulse (it counts as a single blast not as a burst) unless the pulse is a called or aimed shot (in this case halve the strike bonuses).
