World Book 13 - Lone Star .

Pg, 20.
Sub Area level Nine. Is a smaller area (aprox 1.6 sq miles). The entire level is dedicated to Dimensional Travel, and the study of mystical energy and Ley lines.

I am curious, what have you all done with (if anything at all) this area ?

I'm hoping Bradford has some RCSG bros on staff there.

Sorry your security clearance is insufficient for that. :)

Actually I have used it as a starting off place for a campaign. In this campaign Joseph Proesk loves his father but knows he won’t live forever. He has big dreams, realy big. The war with Tolkeen taught Joey a lesson, the Coalition needs to know far more about magic. What should have been a easy victory was almost a humiliating defeat. He has begun a program without his father knowing to gather and train humans in magic.
The person he chose Major Julia Daverson is a seventh level military specialist who has been charged with heading up a long term goal of getting a magical force ready and collecting all information that can be gained about magic, parallel dimensions and monsters from the rifts. She needed people who were expendable, so no one would miss them, while still being capable. She pulled the PC’s from Prisons, mental institutions and the Vanguard. She plans on using them and several other groups as deniable assets for collecting info, magic items, and alien technology.
What they learn later is that the good Major has a agenda also. She and a few of her secret associates feel Joseph is too unstable and dangerous to be emperor. So the have created a child from DNA of the emperor and another high born woman. The child is now 14 and she will appear right after Karl has passed and Joseph has had a accident. In the mean time she is getting an excellent education and will be entering the military academy when old enough.
Josephs big plans are not just ruling the coalition, nor just earth but an interdimensional empire where humans are in charge. He feels that is the only way to truly make humanity safe

Every time I see Lone Star, I think, "Only one person would dare give me the raspberry!" <sound of Helmet closing> Lone Star!

Alright, back on topic...

My theory is the lone star complex was originally created by the Utrons...

I have an alien intelligence of Diabolic alignment controlling the actions of Bradford and his staff, subtly of course, as well as protecting the CS (which is why Holmes survived, and the CS never has anything bad happen to it... had to come up with an in-game reason outside of writer's fiat).

I assumed 12, including a mutant chimp trained as one, all with bombs in their heads.

I tried using this as a minor plot thread with one of my players that runs a mercenary group. He has several people working for him that escaped from Bradford. The mutant chimp RCSG is terrified of Bradford's experimentation with this device and is trying to get the PCs merc group to investigate and if possible stop him.

Haven't had a chance to use it yet but I hope too.

Also used this a backstory for a few CS characters I am creating for a separate campaign.

Also, again, since the book says the original scientists disappeared centuries ago, maybe through the gate, I thought it would be an interesting campaign if the lead scientist (who I created to make the Angel of Death from Mindwerks look like Mother Teresa) and a few of his henchmen tried to use the gate to escape during the cataclysm.

I then thought of two possible outcomes for this:
1) he escaped to a nearby alien world with enough people and equipment to build an army of mutant animals and super humans to start giving the people in Rifts space some problems.
2) they became trapped in limbo for 300 years until Bradford released them by activating the gate. They then escaped during the turmoil with the mutant rats and whackyness will ensue.

So lots of ideas, but I have not had a chance to use them unfortunately.

In my Megaversal Wars campaign (a setting where the Rifts never happened, magic and demons are rare, but all the technological forces from Palladium's games (UEEF, ASC, CS, USA/NEMA, Splicers, NORAD, Cardania, etc.) are in a state of world war with one another, which I am still compiling.

In that setting, the CS had seceded from the ever repressive Preserver Party (p13 Nightbane) which had taken over the United States (unknown to most but the Lazlo Agency...really run by the Nightlords). They were eventually over thrown by a Libertarian government, but the CS still opted to remain independent, especially after the Canadian states that joined the CS broke away from the fall of Canada after the United Earth Government overtook Mexico and the western halves of Canada and the United States.

Texas was the first state to secede from the fascist version of the United States, taking the Lone Star complex with it. KLS, based out of the Panhandle of Florida (p 110 Dino Swamp) had been working with the government run Lone Star Complex to create the Dimension Door Program and was successful in putting one in the American owned, Cyberworks contracted Moon Base and their own American owned, KLS contracted Freedom Station, along with the one in Florida at KLS headquarters. This enables the United States to transfer personnel and cargo to their stations quickly without having a large Earth-to-Space fleet to maintain. In this setting, Time Holes have not erupted.

The Coalition States whom is in a Cold War with the United States does not have a space program, but they still have the unfinished blueprints of the Dimension Door Program that KLS was working on. Should they acquire the correct settings currently used by KLS, the CS plans on sending shock troops to both the Moon and Freedom Station to disrupt American operations in space should the Cold War become hot again.
