A great space encounter for Manhunt, PW, HU, Robotech...

I have an idea for a space encounter. A group of people's (Be they star elves, humans, or whatever) ship gets into trouble, ship gets damaged to the point of losing air on all decks in a few weeks. There were 59 of them that have survived and managed to win the attack and 65 nondescript stone golems and a mage on board with a large blue diamond which he acquired from an asteroid belt...It was filled with PPE. And it basically, had enough to do the transfer of souls and put the bodies into stasis sleep. But what they didn't think to do is put a guard on the bodies...because the ship needed repaired desperately...anyway...they didn't know their calls for help was heard by a group of basically pirates, who basically have stolen their bodies, until it was too late and when they received a ransom. And of course the players encounter them, and their ship.
