Ward Question

Unread post by The Beast »

If I wanted to prep an area with wards in order to capture and/or imprison someone there for awhile, exactly what wards would I need? If I'm understanding it correctly, I know I'd want at least Mystic Energy Drain and Permanence, and I think an Inflict symbol. I'm just not sure what else would be needed.

Just wards, or would you be able to bring in summoning circles (which, depending on your reading, diabolists can use, and all alchemists can)?

Inflict Mystic Energy Drain (perhaps with Power, and definitely Permanence) would drain almost all of their power when combined with Magic (2D6 PPE per melee round, costs doubled). It wouldn't keep them from simply walking out a door, or using natural powers, but if you could make it part of a summoning circle, call them, bind them to the place, and then inflict that on them, they'd be well stuck.

Of course, you might also be able to do it with something simpler... Sleep, or Charm, made permanent. While it wouldn't be as effective, a combination of Blind, Confusion, and Fear, again with Inflict and Permanent (and power, if you're a real jerk) would be very satisfying for someone vindictive... no damage, but they can't see, are scared, and have no idea about the passage of time or direction (really devastating when you're blind).

You're going to have issues with feeding and watering them, of course, but if they're supernatural, it matters less.

No, circles are not out of the question. Thanks for the input.

How would a circle be used to capture someone? I thought they were used for keeping things out of them.

If someone were petrified of taking damage I guess if you arranged 3 sealed (blood) circle in a trangle around them with the borders touching, it would be impossible to escape the inner area without briefly crossing the circle... most people could survive doing that briefly though.

A big question is who you are trying to imprison. A basic wall works for a lot of people. If you worry about some strong wolfen clawing your wall down I guess you could ward it with a firebolt or something to dissuade assault.
