I have a very long playlist that isn't easily C&P'ed how I would like it to be. It consists of several sci-fi movies and video games, including but not limited to the Star Wars series, Star Gate, Perfect Dark, X-men, the MCU, F-Zero, Aliens, ST:First Contact, and Doctor Who.

Dragonforce, DIO or anything with Ronnie, Black sabbath (war pigs, black sabbath) Danzig, Nightwish, apocalyptica, savatage,

oh and there is a local California band called Gygax, a DnD theme rock band

I think a lot depends on what aspects of the setting you're concentrating on. Or maybe a better way to say that would be the feel you're trying for.

I've been giving this same topic some thought lately. So far I have a few songs and artists in mind.

I usually do instrumental or soundtracks from movies and games. Space/PW? Mass Effect or some ethereal space rock. New West? Red Dead OST, spaghetti western music, etc. Gunnin' and Runnin'? Gimme that heavy crunch.

If doing the Phaseworld setting? Any sci-fi movie soundtrack / score.
Rifts badlands? Frontline Assembly, Ramstein, or any industrial band.
