Scholarly Adventures | The Bazaar #42: Convincing Player to Try Rifts. So, I thought I’d give a shot at helping new or potential GM/Players in convincing their likely d20 system player group to give Rifts a shot. These are certain factors and elements to Rifts (or other PB games for that matter) that anyone can leverage to at least get their feet in the door and give it a shot. By no means exhaustive, perhaps this is a start point that generates the conversation for player groups looking to take a palette cleanser from their usual gaming system. Hopefully by the end of it, said group will be rolling up and enjoying some game play with characters sporting 8 attributes instead of 6!

So what other elements would you use to convince someone to sample Rifts, PFRPG, HU, or some other PB game? Are you selling the setting? The game mechanics? How would you recommend prospective GM/Players trying to sell Rifts as an option in the WotC OGL aftermath?

Well for one I'd note on magic may want to address the issue many D&D players have with wizards. Casting a spell doesn't make you forget how to cast it. Instead of limiting the number of spells and in some cases restricting how often you can cast a specific spell Palladium allows a magic user to cast a spell how ever many times they want until their energy reserve is used. So instead of a single use nuke your now a bomber with variable payload.

Also for those players who have wanted for their Palladin to face modern villains or to try playing Gate, then Rifts would be the mechanic.
