Ranged weapon attacks

Unread post by SpiritInterface »

Does throwing two knives or shurikens at once require paired weapons?

Where did W.P. Small Thrown go? Targeting talks about adding to W.P.s but there isn't one that covers shurikens, throwing dart/spikes or other small weapons designed for being thrown only.

Per the Skill "WP Targeting" in RUE (pg328) "Can also throw two small items, like knives, shurikens or throwing sticks, simultaneously at the same target", this is buried in the first paragraph for the skill just before the bold "Requires". So no you do not need WP: Paired Weapons to throw two shurikens IF it is at the SAME target (I'd also throw in knives/daggers), WP: Paired would be required IF it was DIFFERENT targets.

As for the WP: Small Thrown from Rifts Japan (pg190) was for the RMB era, its possible in the RUE era the skill (and others) where folded into other skills, in this case WP: Targeting OR it is considered only applicable to that region (sort of like how Japan has numerous martial arts forms not available elsewhere). Nothing really prevents you from using the skill though if you have WB8: Japan in the RUE-era as a more specialized/focused WP. Technically WP:ST gives an additional +2 strike bonus over time, and uses a ROF that is hard to gauge off-hand (overall IINM it would be similar, but at specific levels it could favor ST or T).

Thanks, I was a bit frustrated because I knew it was there but I kept overlooking it. I kept looking for where they talked about firing 2 pistols for throwing 2 knives.
