Canines and Scent Marking

So, I'm at the urinal today, thinking about how horrible such a device would seem to dogs, and then trying to come up with an alternative, which led to the thought:
Do Wolfen and other canines do scent-marking? Can a wolfen pee out a letter to his sergeant? Is putting your butt on it a valid means of marking something among the coyle, one that will be noted for days afterwards?

Well, I don't know how much information is passed along in the scent. There could be marking for certain. There could also be certain scents that are used as coded messasges. They could mark trails that way as well, as long as it doesn't rain.

No - because that would be uncouth.

Marking a trail...yes. But that is a risky because anyone with the nose can follow it.

I have to agree with The Dark Elf. For the same reason that Wolfen and other intelligent canines would likely not routinely mount and pantomime mating with someone just to assert their dominance, I doubt they would use scent marking when they're capable (intellectually and physiologically) of using the same means of written cryptography and magical means to more securely communicate messages as do humans, Elves (whom Wolfen seem to want to emulate) and other socially advanced races in PFRPG.

I agree, as they seem to be emulating elves I think they wouldn't, just like humans wouldn't leave a message written in excrement. Well not normally, well not npc's anyway.

I would think if it has been snowing and the wolfen had been drinking quite a bit and make the skill check, they could do a whole word and not just a letter, perhaps even its name.
