The Spell Fool's Gold Page 205 of the book Rifts Ultimate Edition.
Can this spell be used to make a poncho or a tent appear gold?
It is more about the size of the object that can be made to appear gold/golden that interests me.
The idea is using the sepll to create a refletive surface for sunlight to signal someone with.
Like signally a plane in the air.

Re: The Spell Fool's Gold
Strictly speaking the text doesn't have a size restriction. So, yes you could turn a poncho or tent (or even larger items) appear to be gold. However, practically speaking I do think the writers intended for some level of size restriction (IMHO probably in that you can handle it one-handed size/mass range).
As for using it as a signaling surface good idea. Though there are two problems with it:
1. it isn't clear how "polished" the gold is (does it need to be cleaned? does purity matter, etc)
2. the spell could be considered an illusion so it might not be suitable for reflecting light in actual practice.
