page 109 of Dark Designs suggests if you're creating a Talent based on a magic spell that it should be 2-3x as expensive for a Nightbane to use (3-4x if a specializedschool like warlocks/necromancers)
Assuming this doesn't work in reverse (ie halving the cost of talents to use as spells seems way too generaous) do you think in the interest of keeping Talents as a Nightbane niche that going for the maxiumum ratio (4x the PPE cost to cast as a spell) seems like an okay guideline ?

Refer to TTGD. It has rules for researching and creating spells.

Seconded. A great resource for making magic the way players want it... because it is the PCs that design their own spells. Any effect - whether the result of a talent, psionic, superpower, natural ability, or science fiction - could be packaged up as a spell using these rules.Marcethus wrote: Tue Apr 01, 2025 12:35 pm Refer to TTGD. Feel like you need spells that emulate the effects of fairy food but with the requisites of blood magic? How about manipulating a unified quantum theory to alter gravity and the fabric of the megaverse itself? Perhaps you are a LLW jealous of the Mind Melter down the block or you just want to add 1d6 damage to Call Lightning. Grab a copy of TTGD today!
Warning: don't tell players that, when inventing their own spells, things can go wrong... very wrong.

Re: thoughts on converting Nightbane Talents into Magic Spells?
From my point of view, converting Nightbane Talents into spells at 4× their PPE cost is a reasonable guideline to preserve balance and keep Talents feeling unique. This approach avoids overpowering spellcasters while respecting the distinct role Talents play in the Nightbane system.

For me it depends on the player. Their mage character has to have witnessed the talent in use then they do the research to figure out and create a spell based on what they saw.
