Good Demon Star?
On page 155 of the Thunercloud Galaxy book it talks about a protected vault (one of the many hook line and sinkers).
It leaves it up to the GM to determine what exactly is in the vault, but it mentions the possibility of a Demon Star or a Demon Star that has been successfully turned into a force for good?
Demon Stars are basically a vehicle of pure evil, create by the deaths of thousands of innocent, intelligent beings.
My question is, how would it be converted and what would it run off of rather than the sacrifice, intelligent beings?

Re: Good Demon Star?
Perhaps some of the sacrificed were really strong-willed and their spirits were incorporated into the material of the Demonstar where they eventually exerted enough of their free wills to alter its attitude and break free of its demonic masters.

I really like the discovery ruins chart, it's probably the best part of the book. I tend to prefer the DB6 does it where these ideas are attached to a somewhat fleshed out star system.
I could see a truly good (like fully principled) supernatural being sacrificing itself and then volunteers donating living PPE to the ship, or the ship learning to feed off of ley lines. I could also see a cosmo-knight sacrificing itself and linking it the cosmic forge.taalismn wrote: Wed May 21, 2025 7:59 pm Perhaps some of the sacrificed were really strong-willed and their spirits were incorporated into the material of the Demonstar where they eventually exerted enough of their free wills to alter its attitude and break free of its demonic masters.

Re: Good Demon Star?
A Demonstar's a mobile haunted house, the stuff of Event Horizon, terrorizing the mortals.
A Demonstar gone to Good? It's an Infernal's version of getting stuck on the Event Horizon,or should be, especially if the ship somehow takes up Holy Orders. Righteous anger, chasing demons or dyvals through the hull, blasting them with sacred energies, flushing them into space or into the cleansing heart of a star.
I gotta take a look back at my TW starship anti-demon systems....there were exorcism and banishment barriers/zones to toss infernal beings off the ship.

Re: Good Demon Star?
Astral realm shenanigans combined with a way to have something temporarily exist in more than one place (perhaps involving the Multi-Phase phase power and Gestalt Trance, or the Armageddon Unlimited ability Alter Dimensional Fabric to also loop in a place on Rifts Earth like the Yucatan or a Fadetown) could expose part of a Demon Star to the energies from the Azlym Asylum in Rifts Atlantis. It would still be a bit of a handwave.

WB 2: Atlantis, pg.28-30 the City of Azlum the Asylum. There is a rift that leads to...well no one has any idea, but, the effect of being exposed to the light from that rift causes a number of changes but the most important is an alignment shift so exposure to a rift going to that same place might work to.

Re: Good Demon Star?
Is there anything shy of the deific ability which is able to create a magical contagion? I reckon it would be hard to target an entire planet, so the bet would be to expose a part of it (via aforementioned dimensional superposition or whatever the heck) to Azylum energy as a sort of inoculation site.

Re: Good Demon Star?
Problem is in adition to the alignment change there is also an insanity roll so you might end up with a depressed or even pacafistic demon star.Kaleb wrote: Fri May 23, 2025 8:29 pmI love this dialog/story.
