I was walking around town yesterday, and i started to notice all kinds of just weird things:

1) More than a few (like 6 or 7) stores/businesses were closed for the rest of the afternoon (at about 2:00) with what looked like hastily written hand-made signs announcing that they were sorry for the inconvenience and would be open tomorrow. This is a pretty small town, and most of these stores are of the self-owned variety. I guess what was strange was how similar and vague all the notes were.

2) Ants. You know how sometimes there's just a huge swarm of ants on the sidewalk for no apparent reason? Buncha that.

3) This was the vertigo inducing one: A young Goth couple (looking very Dream/Delirium if you know what i mean) cross a street and enter one of those old, huge houses that is probably all hacked up into squalid apartments...you know the kind (very BTS IMO).
I thought, "nice looking lesbians." (If anyone recognizes that quote i will be you BFF)
Then as i round the corner, an i-freaking-dentical couple is coming from a different direction and headed for the same house.

Now all of this is pretty normal stuff, i know. And i have pretty bad eyesight (i'm sure the goths were completely different people). But think about what all this would mean to the average BTS character, especially if they'd had disturbing dreams lately, or the GM told them "you have a really bad feeling" when they looked in the mirror that morning.

The idea of this thread/topic, then, is to just keep an eye/ear/short hair out for the odd and vaguely mysterious things that happen around us all the time...and post them here for all to enjoy/mock (and draw ideas from).

I started keeping an eye out for "strange" things when a friend and I started a De Profundis campaign a few years back. The first thing I noticed was that all the abandoned cars in my parking lot were backed into spaces so they were all facing my apartment. Paranoia is fun.

Hey, that Illuminati text was really neat. Thanks for sharing that. Conspiracies add depth to a roleplaying game... or any good story, like the X-Files. In real life, we're surrounded by them, I believe. Secret societies such as the Illuminati, the Masons... and Skull & Bones. And YES, Skull & Bones is real. In fact, in the past election, BOTH candidates were/are members of Skull & Bones. Think about it like this:

- About 1% of our country's population owns well over 95% of our nation's wealth. These people are not simply RICH, they are friggin' loaded. We don't see them in normal society. They are far removed from the press, and live in lavish luxury outside the public consciousness in secluded estates so large that no one but the invited ever see these places. Public air space and airliner corridors are forbidden to cross over these vast estates. In essence, they're opulent and don't want visitors or attention. In fact, entire communities of these people in the "elite club" are formed, and the only way to get in is to fly.

- The resources at their (the elites) disposal are vast, almost limitless, and equal, if not exceed, our nation's budget. They don't need the public in any direct sense, but they do need us to live our lives, buy our petty little products and spend, spend, spend. They need us to exist and keep the wheels of humanity turning... so that the few of us with creativity and talent and gifts can rise to the top, perhaps one day joining the club and removing ourselves from society --if invited.

- They have kept everything "in the families," -if you will. Their vast fortunes. Their ancient and priceless knowledge of this planet's distant past. They know secrets that we have been conditioned NOT TO BELIEVE. For instance, why do you believe the Earth has a molten core? It's what you were taught, right? The scientific research proves both, but *most* mainstream scientists, for some reason, scoff at the idea that the world is hollow even though evidence could sway either way. Until the 1970s, the scientist who proposed the theory of plate tectonics was laughed at... and then, long after his death, evidence revealed that the crackpot fellow was right, after all. Back to the point: these elite familes know a great deal about this planet's true nature and its past, and they are keeping these tremendous secrets all to themselves and a select few who are invited to join the greatest clubs.

- They know of the rise and fall of ancient, global civilizations. Visit www.grahamhancock.com and you'll meet with the tip of the proverbial iceberg. We are a species with collective amnesia, having forgotten past, grand glories and sciences and magic. Most of us have. They didn't / don't want us to go too far, too fast... for their own, private reasons. Again, they have VAST resources. So vast that they could have already gone there themselves. So, if you're a pilot, and happen to have made a mistake in your flight plan and find yourself flying over what should be empty wilderness... and look through the low level clouds and see... a small, elegant, opulent CITY that should NOT be there, well, hope you can escape before being shot down. Tell the tale. Remember the coordinates. Spread the word. You've just seen the tip of the iceberg of one of the greatest secrets of humanity. And, by the way, try flying over an out-of-the-way stretch of airspace Idaho, where there should be nothing but empty land. Take a camera and have the foresight to bring extra provisions and a parachute.
