changing occ
Hi, I'm new to this form but not to palladium. I'm looking for a clear form to change OCCs. Mainly from x to a magic user.

I dont think theirs any real rules per say about converting a non mage to a mage
But in my opinion
Basicaly it takes years of dedicated study and practice to become a Mage, So basicaly your retiring your charater for a couple of ingame years and when he comes back all of his old skills are at half (excuding perhaps things like Driving cooking and other "basic" skills). If you want to roleplay it out you basicaly take your existing pool of PPE and after getting 2k XP (and if you have a decent teacher) you might end up with 1D4 "basic" spells, no special abilities, and handfull of OOC skills and none of the special abilities (or posibly one or two depending on just how good the teacher is)

well, while it never says anywhere that certain classes of mages, like the ley line walker, need training, many simply assume so. personally, I say they just need belif and time (as under the Presuit of magic) although a mage training can certainly speed up the process.
now, sveral classes do need training however. what mage were you planing on becomeing, that's the main thing.

Rifts has no official rules for changing OCCs, except in the cases of bionic conversion and other forms of augmentation, which generally force the character to change to the appropriate OCC ('borg, juicer, crazy, etc.).
Palladium Fantasy 2e does have such rules however, which can be found here or in Adventures on the High Seas. The Robotech RPG main book and Robotech II: The Sentinels also have dual-OCC rules. Any of these rules can be employed in Rifts if so desired.

Thanks for the help. I asked because on the Heroes Unlimited form there is a "Demon Power" that allows spell casting to be learned (least thats how I read it.).

you can become mysticaly bestowed, which would allow you to cast some spells, or have super powers, or both.
