the new TFNP

alright, those of us over at Nexus Nine are trying to get a new netbook project going.

the basic premise is Steampunkish. a setting where Magic is lost in a great cataclysm and Technology has been developing since.

one issue we can't seem to settle on, is how the setting is geography wise.

we have a few concepts.

1) traditional world set up. globe that orbits a sun, ect.

2) "inside out" world. "hollow earth" type, where the setting takes place on the INSIDE surface of a sphere, with a central light source.

3) "Flat earth", where the whole dimension is the world, and its a flat plane.

I have to cast my vote for Flat Earth.
I have only once ever played a 'steampunk' game, but I liked it.
The same GM later ran a 'Flat Earth' game and that was also killer.
Two great tastes that taste great together.

they'll all be a pocket dimension or sorts, we're just debating the exact nature.

Voted for traditional globe style. That way you can always add other planets and moon(s). But I guess you could also do that with a hollow world or flat world style.

You could also mix Hollow and flat world using a Dyson sphere. Start with a area as the "flat world" and move out to other surrounding "flat worlds" 'Moons' could be floating platforms above the "world".

But I will take just about any Steampunk setting.
I hate it when my mind wonders,
Because I have no idea what it will bring back with it.

I'd say hollow world cause then you also have the possiblility of an entire world on the outside as well
You can also do dungeon crawl type stuff for those that just love to do that once in a while. I know I still like the occasional jaunt through a musty dungeon
