I thought the CS had a thing aginst using Supernatural Intelligences?
Jimmy Neutron the cartoon character, my nephew watches it all the time. He's supernatural?

I don't see how... this would be their exact kind of fight.
It's not like the bugs have funky magic powers or use that much in the way of strategy.
Besides, I'd replace their normal weapons with laser rifles that are capable of firing full-auto, still hooked into their power supply.

About a hundred. Of course Xiticix arn't ther same as ordinary insects or even muntant insects.
They are Insect LIKE, NOT true insects themselves. They're independently SENTIENT, although blindly loyal to the Hive, remember????K20A2_S wrote:Sentinel wrote:Get a high-level mutant from HUII with Control:Insects, and get the Xitictix to start killing each other.

Came with the GM's screen, I think.
Rifts Adventure Book
First Printing, 1996
"Slavers, Xiticix, & the Green Death!"
by Patrick Nowak
with additional text and suggestions by Siemieda.
Takes place in and around the barony of Markeen.
Not to give a spoiler, but the "Green Death" is a biological agent officially called ZK-12.
Looking over the text, it is actually an alien spore that is incredibly toxic, and are deadly to every species except for adult dragons, vampires, splugorth and such.
Anybody exposed to the green death must make a save at 18 (including only bonuses from PE) or they die.
I was mistaken, though... the CS did not develop this particular weapon.
Vrykolas2k wrote:It's biological though, not chemical, if I remember correctly.

The adventure is set up so that the stuff will all be destroyed by the end of the adventure.
Of course, all rules are optional... so a GM doesn't have to play it that way... or he can reintroduce the green death in another adventure later...

I let my players keep some of it.
They're too afraid to use it, they don't trust anybody else with it, and they don't have the skills to replicate it.

well this is all well and good, but you going to have to get down the the lower chambers to do damage to themR Ditto wrote:A kill bugs thread?
At this time, I'm in a mood to like destruction, lots of destruction, copious amounts of unbridled, unadulterated, insane amounts of mass destruction... or tactics that are sneaky, slow or down right wrong...
Well, for a CS type approaches...
1: Set up a ton of 20mm Phalanx 20mm CIWS based systems up at a secure location near a hive. Preferred ammo being depleted uranium or tungsten, both excellent AP materials. Back up with SRM and MM launchers along with many 40mm auto-grenade launchers. All systems operated by remote, computers and/or robots.
2: Tick off bugs big time, run like made to CIWS position.
3: At range of several miles, SRM volleys fired and CIWS sees huge "blob" on radar coming "in range" and opens fire at 133 rounds per second per gun, with estimated 1,000+ rounds of ammo per CIWS belted ammo/magazine.
4: After close to 10 seconds of CIWS fire, ammo runs out, MMs fired, 40mm GLs open fire with frag rounds.
5: Panic upon finding out bugs don't mind lacking elbow room to the point 10-100 times more bugs than expected show up than estimates showed based on apparent hive size.
Other ideas.
Kamikaze DHT loaded with explosives, more explosives, a lot of debris to act as shrapnel, more explosives, plus perhaps some highly flammable stuff on top of that. Shockwave/overpressure alone should cause some serious trouble for the bugs.
Chemical warfare.
Not poisons, not toxins, not bio-weapons, but good old fashioned chemicals. Find a bug version of Tear Gas, Knockout Gas, Pepper Spray or Cyanide.
Overkill.
Locate pre-Rifts US Ballistic Missile Submarine, score up to 192 thermonuclear warheads, each with a possible yield of around 100-200kt. Refurbish, rig up all sorts of delivery methods from Skelebot spin-offs of dog sleds to remote control aerial vehicles to simply refitting them to use like bombs.
BBQ, high tech style.
Carpet bombing and Thermite, enough said...
Ultimate machinegun.
Take a mass driver that can accelerate a few kg of mass to supersonic speeds in a single second. Take basic capacitor system and redesign weapon to instead fire small high density 5mm/3 gram slugs.
If a system could kick out enough power to fire of 2kg slugs each second, it should be possible to pulse the energy and instead fire off hundreds of smaller rounds per second and at speeds that will turn them into hypersonic death. I'm thinking 400 rounds per second at speeds of mach 10+. If the bullet speed isn't bad enough, the possibility of air friction turning the rounds into a plasma state makes things worse.
Liquids can be dangerous at high speeds, I've seen systems that use water to cut metal and stone.
Reach out and touch someone.
Get a few "big" artillery guns, like the big one that can fire off nuclear shells, and toss in a high tech twist of mass drivers augmentation on top of high grade propellant and rocket assisted shells. Park a few feet outside of bug territory, and then light up their life.
MLRS.
A lot of rockets, cheap, no pricey guidance systems, just a lot of long range rockets with a lot of explosives, cluster warheads, plasma warheads, fragmentary warheads and perhaps even nuke warheads. Have some rockets carrying bunker busters loaded with stuff like plasma warheads (should be nasty detonating in enclosed areas)
Lazlo type approaches.
Overkill, type 2.
The one spell that summons a sphere that contains anti-matter and overall does ?D?x100 MD.
Quickly place the sphere into a vacuum chamber with potent magnetic bottle. When spell 'fades' leaving anti-matter exposed, vacuum and magnetic field prevent anti-mater from going off. Harvest much anti-matter in this manner. Make tech or TW based hand grenades. A single milligram in a hand grenade would have an "energy release" equal to 40 tons of explosives. a gram would be equal to the "energy release" of 40kt of explosives.
Alternatively, "teleport" anti-mater out of magnetic bottle/vacuum into or onto a hive, where exposure to air will cause an impressive explosion.
Heck, make special rail guns that fire magnetically charged slugs that contain a small vacuum pocket that suspends anti-mater, when round hits and breaks apart, anti-mater is released, and "boom" on a huge scale.
Heck, make TW TK gun that fires TK vacuum packets containing anti-matter. A few MD for TK bolt, and total annihilation for anything standing within a few dozen feet of what just got smacked by a 1 milligram pack of anti-matter.
Burn in... someplace really hot...
For bugs near a Nexus Point, get a high level Fire Warlock, and a Major Fire Elemental. Pull out Plasma Bolt. For Major Fire Elemental, that's the ability to toss 18D6 MD plasma bolts 9 times per melee for 30 melee rounds at ranges of 30000ft (yes, as in 5.6 miles)
For Fire Warlocks and Minor Fire Elementals, it's still 18D6 MD per plasma bolt, equal to # of HtH attacks. Just have the Fire Elementals bug out before they get swarmed, or have them toss out walls of fire.
Fresh air is bad.
AS above, but with Air Warlocks/Elementals.
The Mega-death is from the Major Air Elemental and Wind Blast... 100,000ft range, plus nasty triple effects of a nexus on the already impressive damage, and the abundant PPE available from Major Elemental and Nexus, and the +6 strike for Wind Blast.
Tornado and Wind Cushion to deal with bug swarms.
Toss in Circle of Rain for Major Air Elemental, see if the bugs fly good when wet, then toss in electrical spells for fun.
Alternative, have Air Warlock and Major Air Elemental work with TW to create the ultimate in long range TW weapons.
Rock on.
Slow method with Earth Warlocks/Elementals.
Encase Objects in Stone Or Create Clay + Clay to Stone, and a nuke... Bugs see rock fall, bugs get bored with rock, someone ticks off bugs, bugs swarm into air, bugs help grow big mushroom.
Sculpt and Animate Clay Animals + explosive devices + backup from mages with invisibility and/or teleport...
VTOL Craft + unhappy Greater Earth Elemental + 1 or more mile altitude + spells like create Wall of Stone/Iron or (Create Clay + Clay to Lead + Create Clay on top with Clay to Stone/Iron for outer layer of clay) + gravity + terminal velocity = "The sky is falling!"
Slow, but sure to really annoy the bugs.
Imagine this... Earth Warlocks are on a VTOL carrying a big metal bin shaped like a giant boot. They create a few tons of clay, straining the VTOL, then they Clay to Lead, cables snap, and anything below is in deep trouble as it gets stomped on by the giant lead filled boot.
Alternative, Earth Elementals underground (maybe tunnels with Dig and reinforced with Create Clay + Clay to Stone/Iron), get near hive, let rip with Earthquake, River of Lava, and toss in some walls to block entrances.
Sand Storm (lots of sand, lots of noise, lots of wind)
All wet.
A tactic similar to VTOL + unhappy Major Earth Elemental, but with VTOL w/ big open container with a Major Water Elemental, and Ten Foot Ball of Ice from a mile up... at 1 ton, it should hurt when it lands...
Better Yet, Major Water Elemental or level 10+ Water Warlock + Wall of Ice, you get a good 7 tons of ice.
“Look ma’, hail the size of shacks!”
Circle of Rain or Summon Storm, should annoy the bugs and hopefully reduce their ability to swarm effectively.
Snow Storm, just to see what happens.
