The FURTHEST TEMPLAR...

This might be interesting to think about... and spark some ideas for games, GMs and players alike.

A guy, gal and/or group of PCs walk(s) into a bar in some village/town/city, following up on some leads. The name of the place is "THE FURTHEST TEMPLAR."

Outward appearances indicate that it's old, but renovated into a neo-fifties kind of establishment that's popular among growing coffee houses, yet the over-abundance of neon lighting provided by micro breweries illustrates the dual nature of the place.

And something about the darkly tinted glass just isn't quite right... When looking into the reflections of yourselves from the outside, they seem distant... distorted... disconcerting.

You and/or your party walk in, needing to find someone or something and all clues have pointed to THE FURTHEST TEMPLAR tavern, tucked into an unlikely corner of an otherwise busy main street of a sleepy village/town/city...

So... Here is the question: WHAT OR WHOM do your intrepid adventurers find in this place? Who are the shadow shrouded patrons in the back booth near the dark corner next to the flickering EXIT sign? What emotion is the seductive bartender/bartendress hiding as he/she pours some syrupy liquid into the coiled glass of a hooded customer? Who is the hooded customer and his/her friends trying to look inconspicous nearby? Why is a charming upper class mother of five crying in a booth near the restrooms? Is that businessman checking his $65,000 watch repeatedly for good reason, or ill? Is the chandelier made of the preserved fish eyes of long extinct (and giant) fishes, or was that just a tale told by drunken sailors of dubious disposition? And who are the members of that jazz band... they play like the dead.

You get the idea... Describe one or some of the people that you might find interesting to meet in the darkly eclectic confines and infinity of THE FURTHEST TEMPLAR...

Very dark, very moody. That's GREAT for atmosphere. We just need a backstory for them to fully involve us. You really gave some great visuals, like for a screenplay!

For everyone else: I thought this thread might generate more ideas, sort of like a brainstorming session of sorts where people would enter THE FARTHEST TEMPLAR, get an idea of the place and then leave something behind, like a juicy description of a patron, like the first poster did.

Unfortunately, I guess it didn't whet as many appetites as I'd hoped for. Maybe I should have posted it in the GM's forum.
