If they're new to roleplaying, I can't say I'd recommend using the Palladium system. Try Tri-Stat or something else simpler.

A female Tessa Lionson (Ghost hunter) and Jeremy Hall (Psi-Mechanic) go to investigate Murders in a Vermont,s town, under the cover of Reporters they talk with the towns Sheriff but ther Van Exploded with all ther Equipment.
