can you shoot out of them ? how do they work?

Hi there!
Yes, you can shoot out of them.
They work like that: go to NE,
PAY, and you can use. Or alternatively
go to NE, use them and PAY MORE.
Honest, the physics behind shields
is hazy at best (except maybe for
the phase-fields, where it is stated, when
you can or cannot shoot out of them)

Hi there!
NP, bit I a bit do hope, that someone turns up with
a more satisfiing explanation.
I cannot.
The NE personal fields do resemble Dune-like
shields (you can penetrate it s..l...o...w...l...y),
then the similarity ends there.

good question
we have had similar problems in our game, finally i came up with the explanation that since they are so high tech pieces of equipment they most likely have sensors that allows the shield computer to lower itself or become less dense when ur firering or attacking. i know its a little thin but thats what i came up with, the shields have two setting. 1: motion sensors make the shield pop up when ur attacked absorbing the damage - this is the mode where it is possible attack s.l.o.w.l.y
2: u can have the forcefield turned on all the time at full strength only limited by ur e-clips and strength og the field (light, medium, heavy...). and to me it was really number 2 that made it difficult to explain - if it is up and u cannot fire or attack through it then u might be in trouble...
we also had other problems; how big is the forcefield? i mean is it formfitting or round (like the forcefields of the droids in starwars) and does the form hinder the character in any way. i mean if it is round and 1-2ft away from the body, will the charcter be able to parry incoming physical attacks in hth or will it just simply be absorbed by the forcefield without the character having a chance to parry. what do u think? also shouldnt forcefields be more advanced than just additional MDC? what about magnetic forcefield able to bounce away incoming metal object like mini missiles, grav gun/railgun ammo and maybe even physical attacks. what do u think?

Hi there!
As for outgoing shots, it is not neccessary to
interfere with the energy.
As for "just additional MDC" - deflecting
pieces of metal costs energy - which taxes
the shield's reserves. So, this is the least
of my problems.
One thing that bugs me, that one cannot
wear the shield generator over armor... But why?
Only balance issues, I guess.

Since the p[ersonal sheilds are composed of 100% handwavium... yes, you can shoot out of them.
Their inertial dampening abilities not only work against solid shells and bullets, but alter photon-wave displacement (stopping laser and beam weaponry). Truly increadible technology.

"Handwavium."
Is that generated by an "Unobtanium" Crystal???
And I thought that I had a good Term with "Impervium."

Gravitic Disruption. essentually creating a "point source" of gravity used to deflect incoming shots.

That is (while the canon says otherwise) I huoseruled
that the duoble-MDC, twenty times cost version is for
GIANT robots.
