A quality control officer

Unread post by Blight »

Ok, while i was gone i noticed how spread out all the CS equipment was so i started for myself a compleat inventory of all CS equipment, weapons, and vehicles. I went threw all my books and was going to go through the rest out of my co-gm Etat's compleat collection when i got back. I started really looking at the CS equipment and vehicles. I noticed that there is no standardization in the CS. So i started a little rewrite that became a huge project. I started standardizing the CS and dumping useless equipment, and fixing what i call build errors. This has become a monstrous task but I'm loving every minute of it.

Out of Character it would require the writers of Palladium to occasionally read one anothers work and discuss technology levels and the like

continuity issue in Rifts off-hand is the massively inconsistant technology/economy thing.

I saw the above quote and thought I'd ask if any one would be interested in the finished product when I'm done. Right now it's in a note book form that all my source and world books i write for my gaming groups come in. But if enough people are interested I'll post it.

Don't take offense to this (because none is meant, and you asked): I prefer it the way it is. Never had a problem.

Note: I'd still like to see it though.

It'd be idiotic to pass judgement otherwise.

I am also interested. Maybe I can add a bit of "constructive critics".

That could be interesting, depending on what you mean.

Ok first i was listing all weapons the CS had Including vehicle weapons. Sort of like a Janes guid to the CS, then i noticed some glaring problems. So first i standardized CS weapons issued to platoons and companies.
Like the CP-40 is the standard Infantry weapon, Most Infantry troops will carrie this weapon when encountered save the fallowing. The CP-50 "dragonfire" will be the standard squad support weapon their will be one per team And the C-29 "Hell fire" will also be a standard support weapons and issued 1 per team.
So in a standard Infantry platoon you will run into on a patrol will be made up of 4 squads which are made up of 2 teams which are made up of 4 grunts. Also there will be a Platoon Sgt. And Leader...
This is how it started them I went on to out line special issue weapon and such. Then i broke down the mec. and support units then went to vehicle and that were the work started since i had a list of all CS weapon including vehicle weapons I really started to get annoyed at the lack of consistent weapon on robots and vehicle there is no way to keep and army supplied when every vehicle use a different weapon system. New weapon are cool but 4 types of rail guns all doing different damages for the same sized weapon. Come on, so i separated the wheat from the chaff and tweaked every thing. I even found a use for the out dated weapons. I call the whole thing Coalition After the war!

I'd like to see it as well.
Personally, I think that we have a duty as role-players to try to anchor each other to reality a bit. To keep other gamers from being complete freaks and weirdos, or even psychopaths, if we can. Killer Cyborg

I'd like to see it.

The whole choosing a small set of Pa, Robots / Tanks / APC's and Guns / Grenades to represent what the army actually uses is something I've always wanted to do (and will do next time I run Rifts).

It is insane the amount of variety pumped out by a small bastion of humanity and somehow maintained etc. etc.

Ok didn't want you all to think i forgot this just keeps getting bigger the more i work on it. I having to do set-ups for each state. The inconsistencies in the weapon damages keep rising but those are easy fixes. But i found something that i need to ask everyone opinion on.
The CA-6EX Armor
+8 to PS and it says that it provides robotic PS so a CS commando with a PS of 32 would have a robotic PS of 40! Why do they make power armour? Tell me there is an errata somewhere!

Because most people don't have a strength of 32.
Average is 10-12.

actually Rifts GMG adjusts this to agumented strength, not robotic.
