An old, possibly non-existant, sourcebook

Hey all - this is messing with my mind.

There was a book by the name of "The Lazlo Agency : For Beyond the Supernatural and Heroes Unlimited" that was, at least at one time, planned. It was far enough along that it has an ISBN (0916211797) and is listed in many places as having been released in 1998.

The only information I could find on this board was a 2 post thread from January, 2005, speculating that the book was planned, and never came out. That may be possible.

The book isn't listed on 1010101's Palladium Reference, and both that site and some others give ISBN 0916211797 to the Phaseworld Sourcebook. Some list both PWS and TLA as having that same ISBN, and some list PWS with a different ISBN.

The thing that caught me is I ran across an EBay auction the other day for The Lazlo Agency : For Beyond the Supernatural and Heroes Unlimited. The auction has at least some information filled in by hand about condition of the book, and has ISBN listed as N/A. That would suggest to me that a person had to have visually inspected the book while making out the auction info - certainly enough to notice if the title was completely wrong.

I bought the item the moment I saw it, and I figure if nothing else, I just picked up a cheap copy of the Phase World Sourcebook. I'll update when the item arrives to say what I end up getting, but out of curiosity, does anybody know any other information? Did this book ever in-fact exist, or was it just a pipe-dream that got replaced, and some BTS-plot-worthy mystery force resulted in this auction?

Sic 'em, investigators!

Looks like not everything got fixed for our reailty after Infinite Crisis. Just be sure the Agents don't come after you.

Seriously though, good luck with your mystery - keep us posted as to what you get. :)

It never came out. See The list of unpublished books for it's status, along with all the other mentioned, but never released titles over the years.

Have to wonder if its fraud or part of the theft from Palladium Books offices.

I would guess incompetence more than fraud, if it turns out to be something different. If it does turn out to be like an old manuscript copy or something, which I sincerely doubt despite the niftiness of the idea, I'll call Kevin and inquire.

100:1 it's the Phase World Sourcebook, and some person copied the ISBN and condition, gave the notes to somebody else, and that other person did an ISBN lookup for a title.

1:100 it's some other Palladium product.

1:100000000 it's something actually pertaining to The Lazlo Agency.

Wheee! BTS provides suspense, even before the book arrives :-P

What was the resolution on this, or has it not shown up yet?

It would have.
I hope you complained about it (not that it's a bad book, just not what was advertised).
