Invincible Guardsmen...

I started to roll up some Invincible Guard for my Open House game. But the idea of giving them Alter Physical Structure powers really turned me off.

So instead, I gave them two of the minor abilities (increased PP, or PS, or Pe, ect), and gave them a suit of power armour. And you know what? They kick butt!

I realize that they are supposed to be the eilte spetsnaz of the TGE, but the major super powers thing just seems really... anti-setting. Especially for Kreeghor. I'd rather see Kreeghor juicers then super powered Kreeghor... maybe a version of the Maxi-Killer Any one have any further ideas regarding this?

SOME of the super powers would be appropo... just not most of the APS...
*shrug* it's all a matter of taste :D

That's exactly what bothers me! Thank you!

I know the Kreeghor never mastered biowizardry, but wouldn't it be cooler (read. better) if they still had a few fuctioning transmutation tanks left over on Kreeghor-Tet? You could still breed super warriors, without going the Heros route.

Sounds like a plan.

All I'm saying is, that rolling twice on the minor power table gives the Invincible Guardsmen plenty of xtra stat boosting, while not making them into Apocalypse. The idea of Kreeghor turing into crystal beings or stone golems... seems more comic book than space opera.

So if you are playing in my Open House Phase World game, and the Invincible Guardsmen show up, they will not be turing into beings of living flame. They will just be kicking your butt while in a suit of Warlord power armour.

I've never been comfortable with any of the APS powers being genetic mutations/alterations, with the exception of those that can merely be aura-like projections or coatings around the physical body. As the product of experimentation or Bio-Wizardry, such powers are more easily stomached, IMO.

Just for the record, here are the Kreeghor IG guys I rolled up. Average level was D6+1 (I rolled a 6). They have been given enhanced PP and enhanced PS from the minor table and no major powers.

PP- 29
MDC- 231 (regenerate 2D6/min) +400 from their power armour
Hand to Hand
(includes 7th lev Martial Arts and Power Armour Elite bonuses)
# Attacks - 9
str- 12
par- 16
dod- 16
roll- 10
crit- 18+
int- 5

Also has WP Paired and Knife (for using the blades on the Warlord Mk 1), jump kick, leap kick, and body block/tackle.

So you tell me... they need to turn into photonic energy?

Didn't think so.

it's a MEGAVERSE, and Phase world is the most diverse setting of all.

heck, considering Skraypers is part of the three galaxies, I don't see the problem

I don't accept that. Scraypers is supposed to be its own, seperate setting, or maybe an additional setting for HU. If it couldn't sell well enough on its own that it had to be joined forcibly to the Phase World line... then not my problem.

:ok:

..Phase world has always been comic book instead of space opera; that was proved with the first book and it's irrational spaceship stats...

uh, only the Blazee are cosmo knightish in that book. the rest are kinda...well, standard superhero fair.

and did you notice my thread that in order to make a cosmo knight with superpowers you need TWENTY THREE superpowers AND three mega powers, and then the final result is considerably weaker than a real cosmo knight.

gadrin wrote:that's great, still doesn't change my mind.

take the Rithe from Skraypers, they're Flying Mind Melters with a better Psi-Sword (energy weapon extensions).

I was trying to figure out a way that a "regular character group" could ambush these slave-traders and free some slaves.

Let's see, they save as Master Psionics, they can TKFF anyone who bother's them and they can see... Magic might work -- if they don't save.
Psionics versus them is unlikely, unless you use Crystal Assault Rifle on stun... it's got its own save #.

Anyway, it's not impossible, just not probable.

and it should be improbalbe

I mean, that's why they're there. to do their jobs.

it's SUPPOSED to be very difficult.

 how dumb.

that's why we read these books, so we can say:

NO WAY to half the stuff that's tossed at us.

there's simply points in everyone's games that get tossed. This would be mine.

I've yet to call any of your opinions dumb. don't start with me....

and maybe that's why YOU read the books, but that's not what all of us do.

and you can loose the "My way is better than yours" attidudte anytime. I'm sick of it. there's no excuse for it no matter what your opinion of me is.

Yipes! what is this; the Cyberpunk community on Livejournal?

Whoa!... ease down people...

Much as I like people who stick to their guns, a "Greater than thou, for I am a god" attitude will not win you points Gad.

Nekira, I know this is calling the kettle black here :erm: (as I am guilty of this on more than one count) but don't rise to the provocation...much as I know you want to, it aint worth it :-? 8)
